Offers are probably going to be down this year because they are aiming for 100% yield.

But how is that different from previous years? I imagine there will probably be fewer JS1s. But using an email or a JS1b should have the same effect on the number of JS2s. Unless you're saying their regular decision yield was unusually high this year.

If all they are concerned about is yield, then they might as well postpone extending any JS1 until I am the only one left on the waitlist ☺️
But seriously I have seen some people wait around and interview even when they know it is unlikely they will break a lease and move to Boston. Guys please withdraw if you are unlikely to attend.

I'm all for people withdrawing, but it's not going to make a difference for us if people withdrawal now or after they're interviewed. If Harvard wants ten more people, I think it's pretty unlikely they are going to be deterred by people turning down their offers. They're just going to keep making them until they get their ten. What would be wonderful is if lots of people on the waitlist just decided against Harvard, because what the hell is the big difference anyways, and if you got money why not go elsewhere? I think we should all just work on making staying on the waitlist seem like a really stupid decision--which it might actually be in many people's cases... :)

How is everyone feeling about possible JS1s today or early this week?

Do we know the number of people they need is around 10 or is this just a random number? Ten seems a little low at this point... or perhaps that is wishful thinking.
