Found this re: faculty review
i still think we'll hear back next week based on last years timeline
however, the pre-WL js1s have already gone through faculty review. so there's no reason they can't hear early next week. those with post-wl JS1s might have to wait a bit longer i guess

I'm just hoping that we'll get invitations end of this week and then have the interviews the week after

Re: Harvard Law School c/o 2018 Waitlist
With JS2s just around the corner, I'm wondering who else here stops short of saying they'd 100% attend if accepted.
While I would probably attend if Harvard accepted me, I'm not all that comfortable with the idea of having to commit before I'm even accepted (as in what seems to be happening in these post-WL JS1s and JS1bs of previous cycles). Am I actually locking myself into Harvard if I'm accepted, by staying on the waitlist?
Again, I would probably attend if I'm accepted, and I would feel comfortable saying "yes" if I was asked if I would attend, but is this binding in any way?

Re: Harvard Law School c/o 2018 Waitlist
remaining on the WL is not "binding," but they have made it pretty clear that you should remove yourself off the WL if you wouldn't attend.
it's a pretty simple exercise. imagine you were accepted. would you withdraw from the school you're deposited at and attend harvard? if yes, stay on the WL. if no, withdraw from the waitlist. if financial aid is what you're concerned about, you can get a good estimate based on the HLS website of what aid you'll receive. you'll also have to respond to the WL offer before receiving your financial aid package from HLS, so if you do get in you'll have to make the decision without knowing aid anyways.
however to answer your question, you're not actually "locking yourself in" by remaining on the WL

When were the first JS2s for post wait list JS1s? (Because that first JS2 wave was for prewaitlist JS1 folks, no?)Mack.Hambleton wrote:Last year JS1bs were on a Tuesday and then first JS2 wave was on Thursday.

Re: Harvard Law School c/o 2018 Waitlist
Anyone have a sense of how many of the post-waitlist JS1s received JS2s last year or the year before? I wonder if it's about two-thirds as it is with pre-waitlist JS1s or if we should expect the proportion to drop or maybe even jump. I'd imagine it drops, but I wonder what you guys know or, short of that, what you think.

Not really sure where you're getting the two-thirds number from... According to Pylon's data, 26% of pre-WL JS1s got JS2s.duck_rabbit wrote:Anyone have a sense of how many of the post-waitlist JS1s received JS2s last year or the year before? Here is some information I hope you find useful, gathered from last-years thread. This gives some insight into the differences of WL before or after a JS1.
In 2013-14, there were 101 WL reported on TLS. Of these, 63 had not received JS1s prior to the WL, whereas 38 had already received JS1s.
Complete -> WL
Of the 63 reported, 22 received JS1s and 12 of those then received JS2s. Only 3 reported outright rejections. So, 35% received JS1s, and in total, 19% received JS2s. However of those that received JS1s, 55% eventually received JS2s.
Complete -> JS1 -> WL
Of the 38 reported WL who already had JS1s, 10 received JS2s. Only 3 reported outright rejections. For this group, 26% received acceptances.
Most individuals who ended up getting accepted off the WL found out in mid-to-late May, however acceptances did trickle out throughout the summer until August.

two weeks after the first wave. iirc it wasn't solely prewaitlist JS1 folks, but just mainly. likewise with the second wave, except opposite.Meximelt wrote:When were the first JS2s for post wait list JS1s? last year they didn't, but those post-WL JS1s did have to write some 'homework' after their interviews, which was essentially an e-mail version of a JS1b. those who interviewed last week didn't get asked to do the 'homework', so we're not really sure

Re: Harvard Law School c/o 2018 Waitlist
I couldn't say where I got the two-thirds number. Perhaps it's closer to one-half as offers must be around 600 (?) and interviews I saw were around 1,200? In that case post-waitlist JS1s would be accepted at more or less the same rate as regular JS1s.

Did you or anyone else send an e-mail after the interview in any case?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
