Does anybody have any idea how many people are actually on the waitlist? Judging by this thread it can't be that many...

Got reserved today. I submitted the online form; we're not supposed to get a confirmation email after we opt in?

Kelly Clarkson's birthday. Also, Columbia's own deadline for getting back to us held applicants.gocowboys wrote:sorry for the ignorance but what's April 24?Bird Lawyer wrote:There aren't many yet because we're all held. Checking in. Placed on reserve via email today. Such a long shot but planning to ride it out.

Same. Also my email just said to expect to hear back by the end of May, not April 24th (granted that's in 2 days).LFCNY9 wrote:Checking in. Placed on reserve via email today. Such a long shot but planning to ride it out.

Re: Columbia Reserved 2018 (the ultimate wait)
Reserved yesterday... I'm beyond shocked seeing that the feedback I have received this cycle has been overwhelmingly negative; i.e., nothing but rejections from far less prestigious schools. I wonder if this is some kind of sick joke, like a cat playing with its prey, or if I actually have a prayer of getting off this list? My stats are weak, but I truly believe that my softs would make me a contender for the T14. Does someone at Columbia see what I see in my softs, or is this just a gentle rejection that they bestow on those they pity?

Or they see something completely different that they like.tekadin wrote:Does someone at Columbia see what I see in my softs, or is this just a gentle rejection that they bestow on those they pity?
They wouldn't put you on the list if they didn't think you could do the work and contribute something to the class.

Checking in. I only applied to Columbia (came late to the cycle and want to stay in NYC) so I'll be riding this out until the bitter end. Retaking in June, mostly for next year's cycle, but I'm wondering if it might make a difference, potentially, if I get to the 12th or 15th reserve. Is the general consensus 'no'?

Re: Columbia Reserved 2018 (the ultimate wait)
I took the LSAT for the first time in Feb and NYU didn't accept the Feb LSAT. In retrospect, I probably should have tried to apply anyway. Definitely applying to NYU next cycle ... unless I miraculously clear the reserve list, of course.NoBladesNoBows wrote:OOC why didn't you apply to NYU?cbbinnyc wrote:Checking in. To write an LOCI or not to write an LOCI.....would it make a difference at all?

What do you mean by this? Thought Berkeley was the only school that ranks its wait list.cbbinnyc wrote:if I get to the 12th or 15th reserve.

Yeah, not ranking ... just referring to the endless rounds of reserves that await some of us, if last year is any indication.iVi wrote:What do you mean by this? Thought Berkeley was the only school that ranks its wait list.cbbinnyc wrote:if I get to the 12th or 15th reserve.
I'm wondering this myself. Seems like it's probably a good idea to play if safe and write one, since the reserve letter didn't explicitly say not to write one.Gracelover wrote:To write an LOCI or not to write an LOCI.....would it make a difference at all?

Just want to clarify for myself - there is a "held" stage followed by a "reserve" stage for Columbia? So if I was "held" back in March are we then supposed to hear from Columbia again about whether or not I we are put on the reserve list? And then if we are not we are being rejected?
Thanks for the help!

Some people were reserved without being held first. Some people got admitted after being held. If you are held, you can have any of the three outcomes. However, I believe reserve is more likely at this point in the process.
Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life.

I am wondering though if there is any hope to get need based aid for those of us who have no parent resources if admitted off the reserve list...
