Got an email today saying my app in the reserve pool got selected as one that merits further review and asked if I could have a conversation with a member of the selection committee.

Hey everyone. I finally had some free time to do more LSN analysis. Here are the results:

Essentially, the numbers for accepted people last cycle and this cycle look very similar. The only noticeable difference is the GPA median (3.73 last cycle v 3.8 this cycle). However, when you remove the people who were also accepted to HYS (assuming they choose HYS>Columbia>everything else), you get this:

2013-2014 Non-HYS Accepts:
Total number: 86
25th LSAT: 171
50th LSAT: 173
75th LSAT: 175
25th GPA: 3.58
50th GPA: 3.67
75th GPA: 3.8

2014-2015 Non-HYS Accepts:
Total number: 68
25th LSAT: 170
50th LSAT: 172
75th LSAT: 173
25th GPA: 3.61
50th GPA: 3.7
75th GPA: 3.8

Barring LSN reporting inconsistencies and a crazy surge of people turning down HYS for Columbia, it seems that Columbia will have to pull quite a few people from the waitlist. And from the looks of it, most of those folks will be extreme splitters. This doesn't account for the people who choose Chicago or NYU over Columbia but never report it on LSN (I did account for those who reported their choice to attend another school). Any thoughts?
