Late-Jan. and Feb. Applicants c/o 2018

Post by yannao » Tue Feb 24, 2015 2:00 pm

Hi everyone, I know this is TLS, and practically everyone on here applied extremely early in the cycle (Oct, Nov, etc) but I also know that some of us didn't (no judgements on this thread please, we all lead different lives and you can't know what circumstances were behind someone waiting a little longer to apply).

Anyways, now many of the c/o 2018 threads for various schools are turning towards financial aid talk, while some of us are still waiting for our decisions, to go under review, or even just go complete. I thought it might be good to have a place where we can keep abreast of the latest Status Checker updates for those who applied a little later (Yes, I know there is LSN for this, but sometimes it's just too much work to click on every user name and scroll down their profile to check for updates).

I'll start:

All apps submitted 2/1 or 2/2:

American --> Complete 2/5 --> Admitted 2/13
Berkeley --> UR 2/11
Cornell --> "verifying materials for completion" since 2/2
Stanford --> UR 2/11
UPenn --> UR1 2/20

BU, BC, Georgetown, GW, Hastings, Pitt, Temple, UCLA, USC, UVa, W&M --> Complete, no movement since around 2/4

Davis, Harvard --> Complete, no movement since around 2/17

Good luck to all!

This is great!!!

I submitted all my apps 1/31 - 2/3 and took the Feb LSAT (not happy with previous score and needed time to prep).

Several of the schools are holding my app until the LSAT score is released but I am UR at a few.

Stanford - UR 2/3
NYU - UR 2/4
UC Davis - "Awaiting Evaluation" as of 2/13

The rest are "incomplete" or on "hold" so I'm hoping scores are released early!

My people! I was beginning to think I was the only late application bloomer. I had most schools hold for my February LSAT. I know that's a gamble based on TLS logic, but I think it'll be a nice increase over what I have. I submitted all apps January 1st, except Duke which was submitted 2/13 and Yale submitted 2/25.

Whoa. Did I count that right - 31 schools? That's wild. Congrats on the acceptances and good luck with that wait.

eta: I applied to 18 after attempting to aggresively cut my list, so I don't mean for my comment to sound judgey. Also, submitted most 1/16-1/19.

haha yeah, I guess I was pretty insecure about my chances at the schools I wanted, so I applied to a bunch of other schools. My adviser kept reassuring me that I didn't need to worry about getting into one of my top choices, but I kept seeing it as that thing you're sure you totally have locked down...which then goes horribly, horribly wrong.

Haha, thank you. It's part of a much, much (much) more comprehensive spreadsheet, that might or might not include a macro to automatically check all of my outstanding statuses at once.

I'm not obsessed or anything....just really, really thorough. :lol:

Congrats on all your acceptances so far!! Also, is it strange that I find your extremely comprehensive list of stats really satisfying? LOL!.. kinda wish more people were that exacting (especially on LSN--all those blank stats.. gah! It's like 'come on people! its LSN.. list your numbers and dates already') :P

Haha, thank you. It's part of a much, much (much) more comprehensive spreadsheet, that might or might not include a macro to automatically check all of my outstanding statuses at once.

I'm not obsessed or anything....just really, really thorough. :lol:
I have a similar if not identical spreadsheet :lol:

This makes me very happy. May have to make my own spreadsheet now :D

Good grief! That is fantastic. Using a macro is some serious next level shit. If you decide not to go to law school, my firm would probably offer you a job :lol:

Haha, that was my thought too. I don't usually think of the type of person who builds macros as the type of person who'd want to be a lawyer. Not that the two don't make a great combo. IP law, maybe? :lol:

Has anyone else at Harvard not yet gone complete? I applied at the deadline and am still waiting.

Accepted:
Georgetown - sent 2/2, decision 2/23
Wash U - sent 1/31, decision 2/11
William & Mary - sent 2/3, decision 2/12
Minnesota - sent 1/31, decision 2/25
GW - sent 1/31, decision 2/26

Still pending:
UCLA - sent 2/12
Northwestern - sent 2/2
GW - sent 1/31
Emory - sent 1/31
UC Davis - sent 1/31
Minnesota - sent 1/31
Congrats on GW!! And thanks for keeping us updated on this thread :) just curious, did your SC ever say "under review" or was it just "complete" with date changes? If the latter, do you know how long it was between your last date change and your acceptance today? Thanks! And congrats again!

Thanks!! I'm not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure it just said complete, I don't remember seeing under review. On LSN I have complete at 2/4, so I think that's when I first saw "complete" on the status checker. No email or anything. I remember checking a couple days ago and didn't see any movement. My last status change is today and the status is "Decision Complete." Nice ambiguity there!

Haha, I'm a girl of many interests...I build computers, websites, cars...and happen to want to be a lawyer too. Because, you know, free time is just awful. Blah. Who wants to sleep when they could just be constantly busy doing crap.... :roll:

Seriously, though, I wish I had refined my interests much more in the past, but now I'm into a bunch of stuff and I just can't not do it.

It's actually much less complicated than you would assume. Do you want me to post it in here (it might be long), or make a thread out of it?

Either way, I'll start writing it up. That macro is what gets me through the day. Lol.

ETA: I just realized there's an easier way to do this. Just reply to this thread with the schools you want to check, and I'll create the macro and write up (much shorter) instructions on how to add in your Username/Password information and actually run it. Doing a how-to on building the whole macro would be unnecessarily long, and this way I can just build it myself and post it to the thread as code with instructions on getting it to work on your computer.

More movement!

BC: applied 2/1 --> complete 2/4 --> "being reviewed" 3/2
Davis: applied 2/1 --> complete 2/17 --> "evaluation in progress" 3/3
Pitt: applied 2/1 --> complete 2/3 --> "under review" 3/3

Slow but steady I guess...

176 LSAT 3.9 GPA and you applied to 31 schools... are you insane? You should have applied to at least triple that amount.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
