I wish I could say I don't check the status checkers but for me any date change is analyzed with the scrutiny of a military tribunal, hehe. And everytime my phone does that little ding ding notification when I get an email my heart jumps into my throat and it's always a freakin Lands End or Express email. I've never hated spam mail more.

Yale's and UCLA's... just kidding.

I've only heard about the Michigan status checker (supposedly it updates every day once you go complete).

From my experience, none really unless you wish to know when you went complete/if correspondence has been mailed. I've only gotten into 1/10 schools I've applied, and that school's dean called me, and sent an email the following day. The status did not update until Monday of next week. However, I have heard many things about people being in via status checker, although this usually precedes an email/phone call they were about to receive.

TL;DR: Some people have been in purely via status checker. I don't think it happens often. I keep doing it in the hope that it will update before I receive an email/phone call, but I am probably just very compulsive and impatient.

There is a helpful thread call "what to expect when you're expecting" that covers this is detail . In general, for the schools that have status checkers (all except Yale and UCLA) they are important before your application goes complete because it is important to make sure everything needed is in place (transcripts + recs + application fee + ect.).

Aw dang, never looked at the USC status checker cuz they told me that they weren't going to consider me until Feb LSAT scores came out and then they accepted me out of the blue. Now I kinda wish that I had checked it more- this process needs to be more entertaining and less painful, lol.

After 2 and a half months of bizarre neurotic behavior I can confidently say none.

Ironically, all acceptances came by email while I was driving, at work, or on the other line on the phone.

None of them. They don't mean anything.

None of them are worth checking regularly, just watch the applicants thread and if people from around your complete date are getting accepted via status checker check it then (like NYU, Michigan etc)

Quite a few people have reported first getting their UVA decision from the SC.

Michigan, Northwestern, and USC have the best imo. But did you guys know they can see how many times you view the status checker? :P

Oh jeez that is beyond creepy. So now the TTT schools are getting so desperate for good applicants that they are willing to do your apps for you? Lol!

I def agree about Michigan - that's actually how I found out! I also found out through Texas's SC (never got an email - I'm international) so I suppose that's why I keep refreshing. As for the fact that they can see how many times I've viewed, well... I didn't know that until the damage was already done. I'll have to keep checking now, though, so at least they know I'm consistent.

With the exception of UVA and Columbia, I check each status checker twice per weekday (afternoon/night). This is partly to assuage my anxiety, partly to distract from work, and partly to keep myself updated. I guess knowing when I go UR2 at Penn, UR4 at Chicago, or any other status update besides "DLS" isn't really material, but it's worthwhile to me (particularly for how little time it takes). I like to know when I'm on the cusp of a decision even if I still have to wait over a month.
