I didn't apply to Georgetown, but a good friend of mine got off the preferred waitlist this morning! In other words, for those of you still waiting: there's movement and there's hope.

Re: Georgetown Wait-List 2014-2015
I was held and later PWLd several days if not a week after my held message gave an "you will absolutely hear by ___" if not before. Also, I am sure it's like midnight May 7 some deadline requests for depositing transpire, which would make Friday the earliest we hear anything.
In short, I wouldn't view May 7 as some drop dead date. Gtown missed their last internal date deadline and I bet they do it again.

Thank you! Definitely very fortunate to be in this position with those numbers

Re: Georgetown Wait-List 2014-2015
I'm not positive, but it seems like they may have given some of the people with current offers of admission a May 7th deadline to deposit. I would assume, if this is true, they will make at least a few more WL offers depending on their yield. However, for the majority of us the "next deadline" email is probably what to expect.santoki wrote:who to say they even admit people today? its most likely the 'wait til june' email thats going out that was mentioned earlier.
but i hope im wrong

I honestly don't think trying to read the tea leaves based on the wording of the form letters is a vaulable use of time. There doesn't seem to be any particular common thread to their WL offers.Peta wrote:Yeah, they're gonna give us another stalling email but discerning which version e-mail we receive will allow us to know which subgroup we're in.

If they need to balance out the class with female, native Alaskans with undergrads in electrical engineering, and you don't fit those criteria, there is nothing you can do. It is a leap to assume that just because the school has a vacant seat, it is up for grabs without regard to other class balance variables. With such a large class size, an individual GPA or LSAT isn't going to make a major shift in medians

Exactly, there's really no way to know what they're trying to get out of their waitlists pool. We are all just along for the ride.

I'd like to think I won't be spending time analyzing the different wordings of the emails they send out in a little bit, but seriously who am I kidding?
FWIW the WL movement I've seen on LSN and here strikes me as being pretty patterned

Has anyone went through the prior years WL forums? When do they usually have the most wait list movement?

Re: Georgetown Wait-List 2014-2015
I did it for a few schools I am on the WLmonkeyKT wrote:Has anyone went through the prior years WL forums? When do they usually have the most wait list movement?
And the short answer is - THEY DON'T
We don't know how many applicants there are until later in the cycle, but we do know that LSN and TLS are a subset. A much smaller subset
And within LSN, the majority don't update their status actively.
GW yesterday had 4 WL accepted, and 14x Waitlisted W and 69x Waitlisted with no additional status. And that was just one school.
How are we to make any sort of connection from such small samples and incomplete data on those individuals. We could be dealing with 300 outside of LSN and TLS individuals (I know, shudder the thought, heathens...) who are getting FedEx delivery of giant cookies asking if they are attending. We just don't know.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
