That's really up to you. I read the Georgetown thread from last cycle and the interest confirmation emails are pretty weird. They pretty much consisted of: hey, do you really want to go to Georgetown even if we don't give you any money?dyddnjs90 wrote:The preferred waitlist email states that I will be contacted in May for confirmation of continued interest, and does not mention submission of LOCI or updated information. Should I still be sending the LOCI immediately?

There's no hope of getting off the regular wait list, is there? Does anyone have a guess on how many people they wait-listed?

Re: Georgetown Wait-List 2014-2015
I would think thats a no, but I am basing that on what I have read not a compiled list of WL acceptances. There is a WL waiters thread from last year, and in reading through them, I don't recall anyone getting off the WL and any $danielspaniel wrote:Can you get $ off waitlist?
Or an article saying its "possible" - http://lawschooli.com/can-get-scholarsh ... -waitlist/

For people on WL who got interview requests, have you guys interviewed before either alumni or group?

Nope, in my email it said specifically that you can only do one interview per application cyclemonkeyKT wrote:For people on WL who got interview requests, have you guys interviewed before either alumni or group?

People from D.C. are generally nauseating, mostly because they are all lawyers or work for the government in some capacity. Way to win: If you are female put on a nasty pink dress with some big pearls and talk about how you want to save child soldiers in Uganda by being a lawyer. If you are male, do the same except a muted solid suit and a little American flag pin.

Great advice thanks so much!! Thank God you're not one of those nauseating people.lumpkin wrote:People from D.C. are generally nauseating, mostly because they are all lawyers or work for the government in some capacity. Nobody is going to require a LOCI. You do one if that's the school you'd like to attend.dyddnjs90 wrote:The preferred waitlist email states that I will be contacted in May for confirmation of continued interest, and does not mention submission of LOCI or updated information. I interviewed with Andy. He said that we're most likely going to have to wait until May 1 passes to see where they are with the seat deposits.JTIII wrote:For those who just interviewed: Did you interview with Andy and did he have any news re waitlist?

Regular waitlister checking in here!
What did you all talk about in the interview? I am visiting Georgetown this Friday and I'm trying desperately to get a meeting set up. Also any tips on who to contact to set up an interview? I'm running out of time here and am worried I won't get a response in time. I know they mostly email you first if they want to talk, but it's worth a shot to offer it to them!
Thanks

Re: Georgetown Wait-List 2014-2015
I could not get a meeting to save my life. The secretary dude at admissions is a stone wall. I get it tho, it's a huge school and they probably dont have time to chit chat with the thousands of prospectives.
The admissions secretary guy answered a few Q's with generic answers but was mum about any real info. He's very disciplined. Then they push you out the office on a self run tour.
If you somehow talk to a professor that may be an "in." I struck out, but maybe you'll have better luck?

Re: Georgetown Wait-List 2014-2015
Thanks. A few thoughts from a waitlist warrior (me), take them as you will and I welcome others shredding these opinions (disclaimer: I sleep better at night believing the below to be true), supporting them, and everything in-between:
1. This makes sense and is consistent with many T14s; come May 1 schools see how many spaces they have and that's when the WLs start to see movement. This movement up and down (shrink and expand, whatever you wanna call it) will occur throughout the summer as people who have deposited later withdraw because they get in off some other WL, etc...domino effect .
2. Following point #1, it is very real that scholly $$ exists for WL candidates at T14s. Duke and Michigan come to mind as two I've seen this repeated. Gtown, maybe it's different due to size, but think about it: deposit deadline passes and people with scholly $ don't deposit, that money goes back into the pool and then (at least some of it) to WL candidates. It's not going to people who already deposited, those people confirmed why throw more money at them in May?
3. Following #1 and #2 above, and some will disagree with me here : my honest opinion is LOCIs are of course critical, but as long as they are in at any point before the deposit deadline, doesn't matter when. Sure, it's great to send right away after you get WLd, ra ra you love the school, but I've been in corporate america for 5+ years (and now in a managerial position) and executives (which Deans of Admissions are for our purposes in terms of their time and business) deal with things in real time, when they need to, meaning when there's space available post deposit deadline then they will start reviewing LOCIs and WLs and application updates. I firmly believe this, and that any and all LOCIs will sit in files until after Dep deadline...maybe someone read through it when it arrived, briefly, but their total focus right now is locking in the best possible class by the deadline, then they can worry about the rest of us.

Anyone hear anything yet? I know the deposit deadline hasn't passed yet, but there's been some waitlist movement pre-deposit deadline in previous years.
