Re: Villanova C/O 2018 Applicants
Hi all, I recieved my scholarship award today and it is $22K per year. I was hoping for more and I'm unsure what to do at this point. I have actually already e-mailed the admissions office last week with my scholarship offers from Penn State and Case Western ($28K from Penn State, $30K from Case Western) because I needed an answer from Villanova this week on scholarships and had to prove my deadline. My question is should I e-mail back and ask for reconsideration on the scholarship? I would have to do it very soon because I need to be decided on a school by the 15th. Or should I not request reconsideration so soon because it may be pointless (this very possibly could mean I will not go with Villanova). Additionally, would me telling them I'm willing to pull my Waitlisted application from Temple if they increase my scholarship substantially be a good idea? Thank you, please help

Ask yourself how badly you want to go to villanova. Is it your number one? What if they offer you 29k (1k above PS and one below CW) what would you decide? If your heart is set on you being a villanova student next year, convey that message to adcoms when writing for scholarship reconsideration. Make sure they know by reading your letter of negotiation that you will unconditionally attend villanova next year if they can offer more money so that the schools offer is more competitive than others.iChaseH wrote:Hi all, I recieved my scholarship award today and it is $22K per year. I negotiated my scholarship with the admissions office and got closer to where I want. I will be accepting and attending in the fall. Good luck everyone.

Took the time to visit and absolutely loved it. If the one T14 school I'm on the waiting list for doesn't end up taking me, I know that I'll still be really happy with Villanova. What a relief.

Application has been 'in review' since 3/17. Starting to get a bit anxious because I have other offers with deposit deadlines coming due within the next week. Nova is my #1.

Email them. I was in a similar boat, and they still told me that it could take up to 12 weeks after you go under review, but once I emailed admissions I got a decision about two weeks later. I would also tell them about the deposit deadlines.onwardsphilly08 wrote:Application has been 'in review' since 3/17. Waitlisted and withdrawn. Respect to 'Nova for not just accepting me b/c my numbers are above their averages! They must have gleamed that they were a safety school based on my personal statement and late application date. Good luck to everybody else

I have to say, dealing with Bayrex Marti has been the most pleasant experience. He's such a nice guy. Really blows other people in admissions at other law schools out of the water.

I second that. I probably won't end up at Villanova, for other reasons, but for anyone who is really considering and on the fence Bayrex Marti has been a pleasure to deal with. I wouldn't hesitate to contact him directly with any questions and/or concerns.ineedacupofcoffee wrote:I have to say, dealing with Bayrex Marti has been the most pleasant experience. I'll be attending in the Fall. I'm currently looking for housing now though. I've decided I want to live in the city and take the train into Villanova daily. If anyone is open to this as well and looking please pm me. I'm pretty open to living in various parts of the city, as long as it's convenient to metro stops.

Accepted today. Now I have to make the decision if VLS is worth sticker as I didn't see any scholarship money offered yet.

I was not offered a scholarship initially, but I asked and received so I would email admissions with a copy to Bayrex Marti.

Realized I had posted this in the wrong c/o year....
I have put my deposit down at Villanova and am now in the process of looking for apartments. Anyone have any suggestions? COL is significantly higher than where I'm living now. The prices (and lack of laundry in actual apartments) are slightly shocking, especially when trying to keep costs low!
