Wow that's crazy, where did you get accepted? Those not only seem like acceptance numbers but also a pretty solid scholarship too.

Have you toured the campus or anything? Are you planning on going?

No I have never been to the campus, still undecided waiting on a few more schools. I have a few full rides, I'll probably try to negotiate full ride for San Diego. My friend was in same position as me last year and she got San Diego to bump up and match chapman full ride. Doesn't hurt to try. I'll try to visit soon just because, but it's about 6 hours south of me now.

App complete 2/3. Admitted 2/13 with $43K a year. Visited the campus before and planning on attending campus visit day on 3/20. I kind of want to ask them for a living stipend, but not sure if there is a good chance for that.

Let us know how that goes if you do ask!

I got the same amount and the ~$13k it doesn't cover paired with COL for three years is making me think I might have to scratch USD off my list, unfortunately. But I've got family in the area and I'd love to attend.

To anyone who has been admitted: did you get a folder in the mail, or only a letter?

I received an official admittance/scholarship letter in the mail about a week ago, but every other school I got into sent a folder, which I figured was the norm. Does USD not do folders? Or is it just taking its time to get across the country?

No folder here. Only 2 letters, one with acceptance, one with $$$.

Anyone from san diego area that can recommend the best way to get around san diego? I'm flying in for the admitted students day on the 20th and trying to decide whether it would be worth it to rent a car or try and navigate my way by way of public transportation. Thanks in advance for the advice.

I have friends/family in the San Diego area who recommend renting a car rather than relying on public transportation. That way you can get to more of the sights and get a better feel of the city.

I live in the LA area (2 hours north of SD) and have been down in the SD area quite a few times . . . public transportation will not be worth the hassle, especially if you're only there for a couple days. It's sub par at best - you'll end up wasting a lot of your time that could be better spent exploring the area you could potentially be spending the next 3-80 years of your life. There's a LOT of great stuff a short drive away that could take hours to get to with public trans (if you could get there at all). Awesome beach towns, the zoo and animal park (best in the world), gas lamp district, stadiums, waterfront, Coronado, La Jolla, etc. etc. etc.

TL;DR - rent the car. It's absolutely worth it.

I think you can take the amtrak to Old Town San Diego and take the school's shuttle to the campus. I did this last Sept. The schedule for the shuttle is available on the school's website. The shuttle is a small white bus that parks a couple of steps from the train station. Don't miss it! You can get there at 9am ish and return with the first shuttle at 3pm ish. Lunch at campus and try to talk with some current students ( they are really nice and helpful,). Also, you can stop by at old town for some souvenirs and a coffee!
Another tip: Buy the Amtrak Ticket four days in advance with your AAA membership card, and get 10% off!

Thanks for the AAA membership advice. Didn't know that.

Also, complete 12/6 and still complete radio silence.
