. Thinking the second wave of schollys was more conservative as some sort of money YP. They might think those who applied later in the cycle were less serious about UCLA somehow.lawschool1741 wrote:Literally in the exact same boat here...idk what I'm going to dojjacobs8319 wrote:Very frustrated with UCLA. I was also told that they wouldn't offer me more until possibly after the first seat deposit deadline. I understand they want people to put a deposit down before negotiating, but they are really risking missing out on a lot of people with this strategy. UCLA is one of my top 2 choices, but they lowballed me with their offer. I'm struggling to justify depositing when given the current offer there is absolutely no way I could attend. I have similar offers from Michigan and Cornell, which makes both schools' COA less than UCLA. I also have offers from USC and Vanderbilt that are almost double what UCLA offered.

Interestingly, the total is only off by -$15.00 vs Loyola LA. $241k for Loyola is nuts, and it is still a lot for UCLA. Going to UCLA at sticker scares me.

Seeing the $80k total laid out like that is quite intimidatingidontknow1 wrote:If I may go a bit off topic....mec896 wrote:

Wait till you see what it looks like with the amount of loans and their interest rates. . . I had a minor brain aneurysm when I saw it and I have a scholarship.lawschool1741 wrote:Seeing the $80k total laid out like that is quite intimidatingidontknow1 wrote:If I may go a bit off topic....mec896 wrote:

So, I just found out that I was waitlisted back in January, but had absolutely no idea until now because the waitlist e-mail was automatically sent to the "Promotions" folder of my Gmail, which I very rarely check. I stumbled upon this e-mail completely by chance today. Apparently, I was supposed to reply within 2 weeks but obviously a lot more time has passed since then. I e-mailed and called admissions right away, but their office is closed today due to the Cesar Chavez holiday. I do not know how forgiving the UCLA admissions officers are, but I do hope that they will consider my situation.
In any case, if you are a Gmail user and have not heard a peep back from UCLA since sending in your application, I urge you to go check your "Promotions" tab to make sure you did not blow away a chance to be on the waitlist.

That's really frustrating. My guess is that they'll be understanding, though -- the admissions office is very nice.
They're closed for Cesar Chavez day? It's not until Tuesday. Weird

Wow that sucks. Quick question. When you first submitted your app and received confirmation from UCLA, did they send that to your regular folder or to your promotion folder?lsbd123 wrote:So, I just found out that I was waitlisted back in January, but had absolutely no idea until now because the waitlist e-mail was automatically sent to the "Promotions" folder of my Gmail, which I very rarely check. The initial confirmation, and all correspondence with UCLA thereafter, were received in the regular main inbox - which made it all the more unlikely for me to go checking around the Promotions folder for UCLA-related messages.SupremeLaw wrote:Wow that sucks. Thanks! I'm in a similar boat, where my numbers are at/above median for UCLA, but at this point, I think I'd be okay with a waitlist, too. I JUST WANT AN ANSWER (this is how I'm feeling about all the schools I'm waiting on right now..8 total.....)still wrote:about an hour ago

Dinged via email today.
App completed 2/3
Very disappointing, as I thought I made a pretty good case for myself with UCLA. My stats were a little below their medians, but I really felt like I had a shot--a WL at least. Oh well.

Just got the waitlist email. I already declined it because I am pretty set on other higher ranked schools, but hopefully it frees up a spot for someone who really wants it!
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
