I applied November 27th and went complete on December 12th. BUT ... the only reason that I knew I was complete was that I called them just before Christmas and they told me "Oh yeah. You have been complete since the 12th." As far as I can tell, they do not independently notify you when you are complete.

They also called me about a week ago to let me know that my application for the 1843 full-tuition scholarship would only be accepted if I switched my application to full time. Unfortunately, I had to decline

Yeah. That bummed me out. I thought that my 1843 essay was very good too. I got the impression from the phone call that if I would switch, that they had decided to give me the full-ride, but it isn't a possibility for me.

That is good to know about the scholarships too. I was accepted a couple weeks ago and from what I remember in my acceptance packet there was nothing about scholarships. Based on LSN I'm probably looking at about a $10K/yr scholarship, so I guess I'll have to wait and see. Also, I did get an email saying that my file was complete. I applied like 10/24 and got an email on 11/16.

I don't know if I would consider SLU, but the campus/law building look pretty nice in all the pictures. I've gotten into Mizzou, and if I decide to go to Missouri for law school I would probably go to MU because it would be so much cheaper and would give me easier access to KC postgrad (which is where I used to live).

Understood. And I certainly am still VERY pleased with the acceptance. I just wish that the email I received in October, inviting me to apply, had contained that particular piece of information (see below). But I harbor a hope that my essay (which I spent long hours on) might still help to solidify my opportunities for PT scholarship dollars.

Cowboy, do you know any particulars about Saint Louis? I applied there as well because I was invited to apply for the 1843 Scholarship.

I definitely want to be in the Midwest, and it seems like from their website they have a really good health law program. Wasn't sure about anything else related to the school though (other than its rank behind WUSTL) and didn't know if you had any insight.

I have to be honest, I chose the list of schools to which I applied by selecting those schools that had part-time evening or weekend programs and were within a reasonable distance from my home. I then added on additional schools that had evening or weekend programs and were further away but who offered me fee waivers.

St Louis fell into the first category. They have a part-time evening division that appears to be well designed and they are within my geographic range.

Other than that, I have little direct knowledge of the University. Unless I finalize my decision before then in favor of another school, I will give a report after their ASW.

I retract my post above about SLU being slow. Just got the acceptance package today with the 1843 scholarship invitation as well.

SLU does very well in the St. Louis area. Don't go to SLU if your dream is to work in Chicago, because it will be very difficult.

SLU has very little competition in the StL area as most WUSTL grads leave St. Louis, and Mizzou has a very small school that sends most of their grads to KC. I believe their health law program was ranked #1 overall by USNWR. Other than that I couldn't really tell you much about the school other than the building/campus look really nice in their brochures.

I'm waiting on any scholarship offer, but it is highly unlikely that I go there because I got into Mizzou, which would be so much cheaper. Plus, my dad went to Mizzou for UG and I would probably prefer to end up in KC as opposed to St. Louis because I used to live there.

I applied to SLU because i got a fee waiver. Im not sure about them being slow though because I got my acceptance and scholarship offer a week after I went complete (complete on 2/15, letter mailed on 1/19).

I applied LATE december.

anyway, if anyone could tell me a little more about the school I would greatly appreciate it. PM me or something-I am having a really difficult time now becuase I have a full scholarship offer to another school but it is T4. I would LOVE to go here, but I guess I have some tough decisions to make!!!

congrats on everyone's acceptances to SLU! it is one of my top choices. a decision has been made on my status checker, and it says i will be notified soon.

i noticed that they just put in a second email contact for me (i.e. "username"@slu.edu) on my status checker. is this good news? did anyone accepted notice this, or anyone not accepted notice this? i feel like it should be a foreshadow of good news. any feedback would alleviate some of the anxiety.

My status checker changed to "decision made" on Feb. 5. My secondary email also became ___@slu.edu. I got my acceptance packet in the mail yesterday with a scholarship offer ($18,000 over three years, must remain "in good standing"). I definitely think getting the SLU email is a good sign!

Hey everyone, as a SLU UG (and a lifelong STL resident), I can confirm that SLU does very (VERY) well in St. Louis. You may have heard that 48% of attorneys in St. Louis went to SLU, and I have found nothing to dispute this. SLU enjoys a lot of respect and prestige from the general population as well and obviously has a massive alumni network. Of course, it is a regional school and you should plan on staying in St. Louis upon graduation.

However, the law school building is not very nice (and surely not as nice as it seems in the brochures). It's nothing special on the outside and looks very dated on the inside. Not that it's falling apart of anything, it's just lackluster for a law school. There are plans (and a fund-raising campaign) currently in place to construct a new building. Construction was supposed to begin late this year or early next year, but with the economy the way it is, don't hold your breath. FWIW, the new building is slated to compliment the neighboring Business school in terms of size and architecture.

The main campus is beautiful, however. And all that St. Louis has to offer is a walk or short drive away.

Overall, a great school with mediocre facilities and strong job prospects in St. Louis.
