I went ahead and did it. Not sure if it will make a difference but it's worth a try...
Looks like if it's a really good academic rec, go for it. If it's not likely to add much your other profs didn't already say, I wouldn't bother.

Asha wrote:3. Letters of Recommendation. These are generally not as useful and won't make much of a difference in whether you are admitted off the wait list. I say this because usually the stream of LORs we get from wait list people tend to come from employers, high-ranking politicians, and other people who are probably very nice individuals but who do not carry a whole lot of weight in our admissions process. As I've mentioned before, the type of recommendations that we really pay attention to are academic references. To that end, if there is a professor whom you've blown away with your brilliance in the last couple of months (like s/he supervised a senior thesis that just won a departmental award, for instance), by all means have him or her write to us. But please do not clutter your file with a high volume of low-impact pieces of paper. Remember, what you choose to add to your file is a reflection of your judgment, and we do not want to admit people with poor judgment.

LC said a few days ago that they haven't kicked her out, even though she's withdrawn, so there could be a handful of people in there who haven't yet left the group or been removed even though they're not attending. Plus there are deferrals from last year, and staff members, and presumably people admitted this year who are deferring until next year.
So, don't lose hope!
Thank you!
I'm just having a waitlist-anxiety attack.

Chiming into say that I'm still in the FB group so presumably other people are still hanging in as well. I check daily so I will let you know when I get kicked off. I'm guessing there will be movement after the commitment report comes out (May 15, per
http://spiveyconsulting.com/blog/know-y ... es-part-i/).

I feel like if we see movement from yale on TLS, it will be this week...
last week the first acceptance came one week after the deposit deadline. today was one week after the deposit deadline this year - so hearing back sometime later this week is definitely possible.

That was my thinking too. Yale don't have to play by no rules.

It's entirely possible. What is certain, however, is that we have no idea what they're planning on doing or exactly when they're planning on doing it. I'm super anxious as well, but it's completely out of our hands at this point.

It could be they don't even need the WL this year too. I was anxious about it because my Harvard University Housing "select" window is tomorrow, and I didn't want to contract myself into something just in case Yale worked out! But looking at what's available it turns out not to matter... Everything HUH has is out of my price range anyway!
I will hope it just turns out to be later this week and they need 20 people and it's all of us.

I just wish they would keep us posted via Twitter.

Has anyone not received a waitlist confirmation e-mail yet? To be fair, I submitted my form much later (like two weeks later) than other folks did, but I am getting a little antsy considering that they might start pulling people off the waitlist sometime soon. Would appreciate any insight - thanks!

We're in the same position: about two weeks after other folks, no notice.

Just a running update would play well to my neuroticisms:
May 15: "18 spots left!"
May 27: "10 spots left!" etc...

One more quick question: did you guys address LOCIs to Asha or Craig Janecek. Just curious since the actual waitlist email came from Craig.

Suggestion: We should add a poll with waitlist options.

last year on may 15th the FB group was at 243 (this was a week after WL acceptances came out, although not sure if those WL acceptances had joined the FB group at that point).
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
