Applied on 2/20, complete early March, and have heard absolutely nothing. Should I just be expecting a ding at this point?

Have you looked at LSN's results for last cycle? I think it's pretty hard for anyone here to say since we're (mostly) current cycle applicants.

With deposits due tomorrow, I'd expect some spots to open up. From the admitted students website: "If we do not receive your deposit by May 1st we will assume you are no longer interested in attending and your space will be given to another candidate."

unanswered applications didn't come up during the Q&A last week. As much as there was a sad groan when the preferred WL was described as not very "preferred", adding that they still had more apps to go through might have depressed the entire room of WL prospects

How do you go PT? Big impact to costs and financial aid? Expectation that you already live in the DC area, so stay at a job and make it work? If the COA is the same, but less classes and a longer time to graduate, is it a jump in overall costs?

I can't remember the full convo verbatim but the admin officer said that deposits were strong so there isn't much space in the FT program but there is space in the PT program. Just a little FYI for those still waiting :)

Which waitlist were you on?

You just email them and they change it. The total COA is higher because the tuition per semester isn't that different. But the assumption is that you won't be taking it all out in loans because you'll be working (and in a lot of cases employers will pay). Going PT on all loans would be a very bad idea IMO. I originally applied PT and realized that I would be miserable so I switched to FT.

BTW I know there's at least one PT person on here so you might try posting in the GULC thread in the "Ask a Current Law Student" forum.

I wonder, how much the lighter course load helps your grades and or ranking for performance at OCI

I have a buddy that worked full time in the defense industry and went PT at GULC. He loved it and tried to convince me to do the same thing. He got a biglaw gig in DC with a V10 after graduation. He raved about the adjunct professors that tended to teach at night. He has 5 kids though - so PT was the only option!

Had another buddy that went PT at GULC while on active duty. Same thing - said he was taught Evidence by the guy that tried Hinkley. He loved the adjuncts and the older crowd in the PT program. He went big law for a bit and now is the lead in-house guy for a fortune 500.

Guess it depends on what perspective you are looking at it from - those two guys had families and well paying jobs but wanted to be lawyers - so PT worked for them. I have a similar background to both of them but I prefer to devote all of my energy to law school. Just depends on how you are wired I guess.

Full disclosure - they both had wife/kids to support - I have neither.

3rd year evening student. I kept working and have kids so PT was my only real option.

The professors for the evening program have traditionally been VERY solid - just really great people who love teaching the part-time students. It is tough to manage if you are actually working a very full-time job, but plenty of people have been doing it.

It is on the decline, though - fewer people are going to the evening program and there have been rumors that it's not going to last forever. The fact that administration is loudly declaring over and over that they are NOT thinking of closing the part-time program doesn't help.

Evening class options are not fantastic at the 2L/3L level - I mostly do day classes now. You get some flexibility in structuring/delaying your 1L classes on year two, which is nice. Finally, the overall slower pace of classes I think helps with making sure you can maximize your ability to study/prepare for exams, and getting an extra year to boost dat GPA before OCI doesn't hurt either.

It's a mixed bag overall - I can't recommend it for most given the lack of financial aid, but if you really can't do full-time, don't have a super-demanding job, and don't have money worries, it can be OK.

You are going a really long about way to get a date, and besides, this isn't the best website to do that sort of thing. Just saying.

Do you feel out of the loop with the regular FT crowd? Are you alone in the under 600 others or are you a tight cohort of the night people?

This may be a silly question, but could you go FT after fall semester or must you wait until 2L?

Is it true the PT is very competitive to get into? I believe I read that it has only a ~6% acceptance rate. I am seriously considering this option since there is a good chance I will be working in DC starting next year but if the program is that hard to get into (GPA is terrible) I might just skip the job part and focus only on applying to full time PT programs.

Congrats! How were you notified? Also, when is the deadline for your seat deposit, if you don't mind sharing?

Thank you! I received a phone call gauging my interest yesterday, then an email today. The seat deposit deadline is next Wednesday, 3/20, but if you're sure you want to commit they waive it in lieu of a commitment contract.

WHERE IS THE SWAG? Anybody gotten any? I almost want to rescind my acceptance for a school that will swag me out. Not snail mail me a fancy dinner invitation masquerading as an acceptance letter.
