I am stoked to get in, but I didnt get a cloth bound book! My packet just had a pamphlet of Ithaca and a letter signed by the Dean of Communications.

Now that I can finally post pictures, I guess I can add some pictures to the thread. Sorry about the awful quality and glare.

Here's the packet from U of Illinois:
Image
The Illinois Law thing in back is a glossy folder. The middle booklet is a recreation guide. I'm not sure why they thought that was necessary.

Here's the two books from UChi:
Image
The Uniquely Chicago is the admitted students book (which is also available online in a PDF) with a pretty neat fold-out map in the cover. The Glass Menagerie is like a yearbook. Now I know what all the current students look like.

I can upload ND and Northwestern later, I just need to get all of the stuff back together. Northwestern's notebook is hands-down the best thing I've received.

Do most law schools have yearbooks?

Chicago is the only one I'm admitted to that says anything about having one. I guess it's a big deal, too, because one has to submit 1) seat deposit, 2) final transcripts, and 3) a Glass Menagerie photo before classes start. I don't think the photo is mandatory, but it is pretty interesting seeing the deadlines on the calendar.

It's pretty nice, because you get one on the first day of orientation so when you forget someone's name you can go look it up when you get home. Profs also use them to generate a Paper-Chase style seating chart of the class for cold calling... which is... less nice. I think they also give the pics to employers at OCI so that they can recognize you.

Wow, that is actually a great idea. I cannot remember people after one meeting, so that book could be huge.

Now what's your name so I can look you up and creep on ya a bit?

UPenn's is pretty cool. It's a big accordion file with little tabs (Housing, Financial Aid, Public Interest, etc.) and a different little booklet for each tab. Just sent through the normal mail, received about a week after admittance.

Dayum, that notebook alone makes me glad I applied to NU. Can't wait to write something dumb on the first page, and then never use it again out of shame.

The Minnesota packet:

The folder is nice, filled with acceptance letter, scholarship letter, two scholarships applications, admitted student weekend invitation/RSVP, and admitted student's website info on top of some pamphlets for career services, the law school, and financial aid.

Edit: Ricky-Bobby has/will direct link images to this thread. See below.
