Sorry if this is off-topic for this forum, but as a splitter planning to apply for next cycle, I was just wondering if the response time on apps for splitters tends to be longer than other applicants?

Re: Splitters 2013-2014
I don't know if there's any correlation - maybe if we collected everyone's data. From what I've read, it seems to be as black box as any other applicant. My fastest was a 7 days response, and other apps are still waiting 2+ months. Then I've seen other splitters at the same schools have a long wait, and a fast response, respectively.js123 wrote:Sorry if this is off-topic for this forum, but as a splitter planning to apply for next cycle, I was just wondering if the response time on apps for splitters tends to be longer than other applicants?

Re: Splitters 2013-2014
YMMV, but as a classic splitter (LSAT at or above 75ths for every T14 except HY, and GPA well below 25th for every T14), this was my experience:js123 wrote:Sorry if this is off-topic for this forum, but as a splitter planning to apply for next cycle, I was just wondering if the response time on apps for splitters tends to be longer than other applicants?
I applied on time (before Thanksgiving):
Duke was PT, so got my decision in 10 days flat.
NYU was in December, so about a month turnaround. Same for UCLA.
Georgetown interviewed me early Dec and accepted me right after the break.
UMich was early Jan too.
CLS accepted me as part of the historical late Jan wave.
The 2 schools that YP (UPenn and UVA) accepted me the latest, in early Feb. Note that UPenn was a WL bloodbath this year. Not sure what this means for future cycles.
If you're a high LSAT splitter, I think you might see a more regular cycle now because high LSATs are a hot commodity. I seriously considered EDing to CLS or NYU before I got more info from this site. Before, schools could wait on splitters as they played around with their app pools. Now things aren't as peachy and keeping an LSAT median is key for a lot of schools. Lower T14s might throw more $$ at you, you might get in where YP was once a given, and you might even snag some of CCN RD instead of ED. The general advice on TLS for splitters is cast a wide net, apply as early as possible, and be willing to hold out/negotiate for $$$. I have a feeling you'll see some great options by end of January of your cycle, just like I did. Of course this doesn't apply to HYS--YS don't need to worry, their class sizes are small enough to take a dip in applicants for decades to come. H might break its GPA floor a couple of times, but there are more than enough 3.6+ GPAs too. HTH

Re: Splitters 2013-2014
My times have been consistent with most other applicants (splitters and non-splitters), and in some cases faster. Only ones where my process has been slower than others who submitted at the same time have been UVA and Penn.js123 wrote:Sorry if this is off-topic for this forum, but as a splitter planning to apply for next cycle, I was just wondering if the response time on apps for splitters tends to be longer than other applicants?

Re: Splitters 2013-2014
Adding to that, my times have been on par with non-splitters for most of the schools. Perhaps a bit surprisingly, I had a decision from UVA about a week and a half after I went complete. I believe it really just depends on when you apply, and how many others are already in the queue when you do.vuthy wrote:My times have been consistent with most other applicants (splitters and non-splitters), and in some cases faster. Question:
How do supersplitters feel about their cycles in general? I'm a <3.0/170+ splitter, and so far i've been underwhelmed by my cycle. I was kind of hoping to break into the lower t-14, but so far i've just gotten gulc.
Were my expectations too high, or was there a big enough problem with my app that others are having much better luck?

Re: Splitters 2013-2014
Any heavy splitter / super-splitter been successful in soliciting for schollys within the T20? I'm curious if I should even bother and embarrass myself. I've gotten good $ from small regional safety schools (Rank 30 and lowers), but I can't really bring that to the table against T20....can I?

I'll let you know if I'm able to swing it. As of right now, no (but I expect to hear back in the next two weeks from a couple schools) after submitting for reconsideration.Frozinite wrote:Any heavy splitter / super-splitter been successful in soliciting for schollys within the T20? Re: Splitters 2013-2014
I've negotiated all my T20 acceptances upwards with using $ from regional school in ranks 21-50ish. For WUSTL my LSAT was right above the 75th, for Texas it is at 75th.Frozinite wrote:Any heavy splitter / super-splitter been successful in soliciting for schollys within the T20?
