Just to clarify - did they say they'd make a decision about you specifically or about the whole waitlist in general within 4 business days?

They said that they would get back to me as soon as possible and afterwards I would have 4 business days to accept the offer.

Got an email today inviting me to interview via Skype. Is this a good sign as to getting off the WL?

Not to be snarky, but why would an invitation for a skype interview be anything other than good news for your chances of getting in? No news is bad news (until you hear otherwise). Of course it is good news.

Got email for Skype interview Wednesday. Interviewed this morning. Got the call an hour later. Interview = good thing. 161, 3.95...if that lsat score doesn't give you all hope nothing will.

No merit based scholarship so I'm crossing my fingers for some need based.

1. Look into the camera (not at the screen). 2. Do some research on why you want to go to UCLA specifically (programs, faculty etc).

The interview is very informal so don't stress about it too much. Try to act natural and be yourself.

The former Assistant Director of Admissions left on July 9th, so that may have hampered the process.

Not to freak anyone on the waitlist out but first day of class is August 18th and there is assigned reading that has already been distributed for orientation week which will take some time to go through. If you're going to make a push, now would be the time to go all out. Good luck to everyone!

Oh ok...well the timeline part sounds promising..hopefully that means you are in, its just a matter of when!

I think the more time elapses from interview date the less likely one is to get in. That was my logic at the time. If you have a skype interview you really need to knock it out of the park. At that point I assumed I had a 50/50 shot. After a couple of days of waiting I thought the odds decrease as time went by and the closer we got to the first day of school.

Did they give you a firm timeline when you would hear back? It seems like they have been giving different timelines. Some people have been told 4 business days for example, and others have been told "sooner rather than later." Maybe they don't have any open spots yet and are now interviewing in anticipation of open spots? It seems like they wouldn't interview unless they were fairly certain they wanted to admit you, though obviously I'm just speculating.

My interview was back in March. I think I was told I would hear back within a week but I'm not sure. At this point I think it is likely that there are very few spots remaining and they only open up if someone decides to drop because they got into a higher ranked school (or one that gave them more money) at the last minute off the WL. Let's say the class is about 300 I would venture to guess most of those spots are full. To give you an idea the facebook group for the class of 2017 has 370 people (some of which are current students who help answer questions). I'm not trying to scare anyone but it's nice to know some information. I found these threads helpful in determining my odds. Some info is better than no info.
