Nice job, that's a good price. I meant it gets worse as you go away from the water. Down towards Garfield is not an excellent part of town.follywood wrote:You're right that, farther down the hill toward downtown, street parking gets more expensive. But when I parked on 12th yesterday, I paid only $1.50/hour. Some of the back streets require no payment.Icecold62 wrote:Parking in that area? $4 an hour, or so. I went. I thought it was great. I got a lot of useful information and absolutely fell in love with the city. I liked the fact that a lot of issues were discussed in the panel of alumni and current students, both good and bad. I felt that the school conveyed a lot of honesty about the job market in Seattle, and it was even stated that the school is best for students that intend to stay in the PNW. Being comprised of 1Ls, 3Ls, those employed with the government, firms, and private companies, as well as unemployed and looking, the panel covered all the bases and offered a lot of differing perspectives and advice that I found to be useful.follywood wrote:Did anyone go to the open house? Getting a chance to talk to a few professors one-on-one was really helpful. I didn't get the impression of arrogance and elitism that I expected, but was met with what I felt was genuine concern for students. Overall, I was very impressed with the school and the fact that I didn't feel like I was being sold a lot of BS.

I went too. I found students and staff very accessible. In fact, one of them, a director of one of their programs, has been very helpful in connecting me with practicing alumni. This attitude seemed to prevail among most, which is refreshing. It was an interesting mix, though, to say the least. The number of those representing the school seemed to outnumber the number of applicants. I left early, and so did not see the Q & A. Needless to say, I enjoyed the class (Torts), the conversations, and the campus, but felt a little overwhelmed by the number of representatives.toostressed wrote:I went. I thought it was great. Thank you! Seattle is not my top choice mainly because it would be a huge move for me and my family. Still, its a great opportunity and I'm going to see if they offer any $$. I'm still waiting to hear from Oregon before I make my final decision. Hopefully that will be sooner rather than later.follywood wrote:Congratulations! Will you be attending? You can expect the scholarship offer to be included with your admission packet. It should arrive within one to two weeks. Good luck at Oregon!alanjd wrote:Thank you! Re: Seattle U c/o 2017 (2013-2014)
SU released employment data for its 2013 graduates (http://www.law.seattleu.edu/Documents/c ... duates.pdf).
Some quick observations...
Of 311 graduates reporting....
1. 137 attained full-time, long-term legal work (44%)
2. 154 attained either full-time or part-time and either long-term or short-term legal work (50%)
3. 101 attained full-time, long-term work at a law firm (32%)
4. 117 attained either full-time or part-time and either long-term or short-term work at a law firm (38%)
5. 40 are unemployed and seeking employment (13%)
How that compares to 2012 graduates...
Class Size: 311 vs. 323 = 4% smaller
1. 137 vs. 152 = 11% fewer graduates attained FTLT legal work
2. 154 vs. 166 = 8% fewer graduates attained either FT or PT and either LT or ST legal work
3. 101 vs. 99 = 2% more graduates attained FTLT work at a law firm
4. 117 vs. 117 = no change
5. 40 vs. 38 = 5% more are unemployed and seeking employment
So far, the 2013 employment numbers don't seem encouraging: fewer employed in FTLT legal work and more unemployed and seeking. It is interesting, though, that the 2013 class saw more employed lawyers than the 2012 class.
At the same time, the entering 2013 class comprised 227 students, 27% smaller than the graduating class. It will be interesting to see the results of the smaller graduating classes.

Just got an email from the Asst. Dean yesterday telling me about my acceptance, and that any merit-based scholarships would be included in the packet coming in the mail in the next couple of weeks. Does anyone know how long it actually took from the time of your email to the time the packet came? Curious because of an upcoming 4/1 deposit due date.

Still in review, but the admissions office sent me their little ad postcard that advertises their summer admission program for admitted students. No other mail in my box, no email, no update on tracking.

Admitted FT as of 03/21 via email and status checker. First choice. Anyone know if its too late to apply for a Direct PLUS Loan if you haven't already? Or is that something you are automatically considered for in your FAFSA application.

I was accepted 3/7 (3.86/164) and received my merit-based scholarship offer in the mail (22.5k/year + one-time 3k community service stipend) with the admit pack I think exactly two weeks later. Need-based financial aid offer came in a separate packet and letter on 3/22.GMU13 wrote:Just got an email from the Asst. Re: Seattle U c/o 2017 (2013-2014)
First you're going to get a letter containing any possible merit-based scholarship with your admit packet (took about two weeks after I was notified I was admitted via e-mail to get this packet). Then about a week after that I got another packet and letter from financial aid that contained my need-based offer which included non-subsidized Stafford loans and Grad PLUS loans in an amount that covered the rest of tuition not already covered by my merit-based aid. So tl;dr you're not too late. SU's office of financial aid determines your eligibility for those loans based on your FAFSA.jgraddon wrote:Admitted FT as of 03/21 via email and status checker. Re: Seattle U c/o 2017 (2013-2014)
Thank you very much for that information, I appreciate it. I don't expect the non-subsidized Stafford loan amount together with any merit-based scholarship offers to cover cost of tuition; therefore, I am depending on the additional aid from the Grad PLUS loans. Thank you again.zephyr12 wrote:First you're going to get a letter containing any possible merit-based scholarship with your admit packet (took about two weeks after I was notified I was admitted via e-mail to get this packet).
