Thank you! My dad has been asking me to let him "try some of those logic puzzle games" I told him about. I'm going to dump all 25 of my LSAT prep books on his doorstep and wish him a pleasant afternoon with the dinosaurs and new/used jazz cd's :-)

Congrats on the LSAT! Glad the Dean made that much of an impression to force UConn to the top of your list!

It was already up there, but now it's leading the pack! I was super impressed by his fluent knowledge of the dual degree programs in particular - can't tell you how frustrating it's been trying to get straight answers from a lot of schools to nuts-and-bolts questions about how their own programs work.

Thanks JH, and you are 100% correct! Better than a rejection at least. I'll fire off a LOCI and jump through the appropriate hoops.

At the 2/28 lunch we were told that scholarships are being reviewed in the next week or two.

I hope we get them soon!
Did they mention if they are given to in-state or out-of-state students?

They're given to both. There are two types, merit-based and need-based. I don't know if there's preference for one over the other, but she did mention that they do their best to bring tuition for out-of-state applicants close to in-state tuition if possible. Not certain now if she was referring to need- or merit-based when she said that, but I want to say she was talking about need-based.

I just got merit scholly. They stated it was towards my first year. Does anyone know if this award carries over for each year?

Hope other people have heard!

If its a Connecticut/university of Connecticut scholarship it is renewable for each year as long as you keep a 3.0, not sure about other merit schollys.

I received an email about scholarships. 20k first year Dean's Scholar. Merit scholarship info from website:

[quote]Types of Scholarships
The Law School offers have a combination of awards ranging from non-renewable awards from specific donors to full-tuition renewable scholarships. Scholarships vary in size and terms.

Connecticut Scholarships
The Connecticut scholarship program offers renewable full tuition scholarships to admitted students. To maintain the scholarship, recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average. All admitted students from Connecticut are considered for Connecticut Scholarships. In 2011, 10 matriculants were awarded the Connecticut Scholarship and in 2012, 20 Scholarships were awarded. No Connecticut Scholarship has been revoked based on the 3.0 grade point average requirement.

Dean's Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded annually to incoming first-year students who have shown exceptional promise. Dean's Scholarships are partial tuition scholarships and are not renewable. All admitted applicants are considered for Dean’s Scholarships.

Ellsworth Scholars
The University of Connecticut Board of Trustees established the Ellsworth Scholarship to enhance geographic diversity. This scholarship is awarded to outstanding out-of-state residents.

Law School Foundation Scholarships
The University of Connecticut Law School Foundation, Inc. was established in 1974 to raise funds from the private sector to promote the educational and research objectives of the University of Connecticut School of Law. The Law School Foundation solicits, receives, invests, and administers gifts and financial resources from private sources for the benefit of the Law School.

There is no separate application required for Law School Foundation Scholarships; however, if you believe you meet the criteria for a Scholarship, the committee will accept a statement regarding your qualifications./quote]

Super bummed. I am in-state so if this was a renewable amount I would for sure be attending.

I doubt it, I was told when I called that the person in charge of scholarships has been out sick - apparently that's why they took so long to start being sent out. Not sure if s/he's back yet, but they are obviously going ahead with their review. Hopefully this means we'll see more soon.

Got the Dean's Scholarship for 15k. I'm pretty stoked that it covers most of in-state PT tuition.
