Congrats on the admittance and scholly money. For the right price and right goals, I think Drexel is a great option.

What are chances of getting in with 2.56 GPA / 150 LSAT, Hispanic (Cuban) ethnicity, and 2.5-3 years legal/work experience?

I would've never checked there, but I checked and found that I was admitted with full scholly to the 2-year program. Still not sure if I want to give up a steady job even if law school is free.

Drexel 1L here..TLS was helpful in my decision making. Willing to answer any questions before my 2nd semester starts getting hectic.

Thanks for taking the time to answer questions. The stip on my scholly is to maintain at least a 2.95 GPA: Do you know what that relates to in terms of class rank? Also, in terms of living off campus, what are good areas to live in if I am trying to be frugal?

What made you choose Drexel over other schools? Are you happy with your decision so far? How's the atmosphere there?

The stipulation for most students is 2.95. Since 1Ls haven't received their first semester grades yet, I'm not quite sure how it relates to my specific class. But from conversations with 2Ls and 3Ls, having a 2.95 or higher puts you in the top half of the class. Therefore, in order to keep your scholarship, you need to be in the top half. However, keep in mind that nearly every student receives some sort of scholarship.

There are plenty of options for living in Philly..Philly is a relatively cheap city. I would recommend the Graduate Hospital/South Street area. It's relatively close to the school, the area is pretty cool, and it's cheap.

I chose it from a strictly financial/career standpoint. They offered me a full scholarship w/out any stipulations. I had a thread over the summer where I discussed my options. I got in to every Philly school (including Penn) and PSU. I ended up at Drexel because I wouldn't go in to debt (which was my biggest fear), and my career aspirations are to work small law in PA. I'm happy with my decision so far; I enjoy living in Philly and I've already obtained a summer associate position in a pretty prestigious firm.

The atmosphere is pretty relaxed honestly. Professors are extremely helpful and there isn't a cutthroat attitude among the students. I think if you go into Drexel with the right goals and mindset, you should be okay.

Great, thanks for your help. You said that you have no stipulations on your scholarship, is that because you were able to negotiate the offer in such a way, or is that what you were initially offered?

Yes, beware 0Ls, not every student at Drexel obtains a summer associate position at a prestigious firm. Remember from your LSAT prep, it would be a logical fallacy to make such an assumption. 1 student's success does not mean every student succeeds.

Drexel is a good option under the right circumstances. I have nothing bad to say about Drexel, in fact I have loved the time spent here and the education I have received. Drexel was my safety school when I applied, and I had no intention of attending. Even though I attended undergrad in Philly, I didn't even know Drexel had a law school until I got an email from them saying I should apply. They offered me a nice scholarship w/stipulations, which was good, but the visit/tour is what sold me. I have no regrets about my decision, but I fully recognize that under different circumstances I would have chosen another school. Specifically, If I hadn't already had a job lined up after graduation, if I'd wanted biglaw, or was more concerned about debt, I'd be somewhere else.

You're being extremely disingenuous by implying that your results are not atypical. Please acknowledge that your current position is superior to that of the vast majority of your peers at Drexel.

Let's not turn this thread into a debate, but it's worth noting that according to LST Temple's employment score is 52%, Villanova's is 51.2% and Drexel's is 46.5%. Essentially what I'm saying is that after Penn, it's really a coin toss and you should choose your cheapest option between these schools. I see Drexel as a place with equity for the future. Drexel University is well regarded on the East Coast and very prestigious in the Philly area. The law school has some work to do, but if you want to be in Philly, Drexel is a great option.

Forgive me Danger Zone, I wasn't trying to imply that my situation was typical for Drexel students. I was simply answering the question of whether I was happy with my decision to attend by informing the 0L of my personal situation (which is of course, not identical to the majority of other students). I guess I'm spoiled by TLS in hoping that an 0L would know of Drexel's limits and I wouldn't have to explain.

Anyway prospective Drexel students, I am happy with my decision. I didn't attend thinking that I would get the six-figure salary upon graduation or work for the FBI...I came with realistic desires and I think that has helped me appreciate the education i've been receiving so far at Drexel.

Drexel has PA in state tuition match now, does anyone know how this would affect scholarship offers? I was offered a 30,000 scholarship, which is not full, but would it now cover the entire tuition?

The only people who would know for sure would be the school. I would imagine you would only get the better offer (i. e. $30k off Drexel sticker or the in-state rate), not both, but that is merely speculation.

In with $35k, and invited to a reception on 2/4 for the scholarship. This offer is extremely tempting, but I'm a JD/PhD applicant and have my PhD interview in a few weeks. If that goes well I will definitely be attending.

I logged in and saw in my app status that I was accepted long before I received the scholarship notification, which was in my spam folder. They called me as well, and I told them about the spam issue and they said they've had a problem with that with gmail accounts.

Edited to note that this scholarship also came with an offer to upgrade to the 2-year JD program.

Anyone else planning on attending the information session on Febuary 4th regarding the 2 year JD program?

Also, what is the expected dress code for the event? I was told that I'd be receiving an information packet in the mail, but still nothing...

I'm pretty sure I will be attending. I'll be coming after work, so I will be business casual. I would say that's always a safe bet, unless they specifically say business attire.
