For those accepted, welcome to UNC -- I'm a graduating 3L moving to Raleigh in August and need to find tenants for my 3 BR Glen Lennox apartment (starting in August). Send me an e-mail if you are interested, or have any questions about UNC in general - pdlawler@live.unc.edu.

anyone get any updates on financial aid and scholarship awards? I believe the dean said that there would be a second round of them after the deposit deadlines.

I think the last deposit deadline is May 1st, if I am not mistaken, so hopefully we see some movement soon!apples89 wrote:anyone get any updates on financial aid and scholarship awards? I believe the dean said that there would be a second round of them after the deposit deadlines.

Nothing. Didn't someone say last year they waited until May 1 at 7pm?
Was this in last year's thread? Any source info?

I guess they could be sending out acceptances on that day if they haven't filled up the class yet.
I'm hoping the class size won't be so big...but it looks like it will be.

Why do you think like it will be big? I may have missed something.apples89 wrote:I guess they could be sending out acceptances on that day if they haven't filled up the class yet.

Perhaps I'm comparing the class sizes to other schools that are known to be smaller. Most years it's something like 240ish right? I was just hoping they would scale it back to around 180.Baby_Got_Feuerbach wrote:Why do you think like it will be big? Seems like a YP really. Makes me feel a WL/Ding even stronger since I'm below both of those numbers!Baby_Got_Feuerbach wrote:Did you get an email?vegitossj5 wrote:I'm in state. 170 LSAT, 3.0 GPA.Attax wrote:In state? OOS? There is no way they are speeding through all our files these last few days. Totally ridiculous but still holding out hope.Attax wrote:cricketlove00 wrote:Nada.IggyLoyola wrote:Any news from those who have yet to hear? Down to the last 3 days..

No. It was on the status checker. It said "decision rendered" - waitlistBaby_Got_Feuerbach wrote:

Fellow Waitlisters
The form is easy to fill out, and I had my status checker updated to reflect I wanted to stay on the waitlist.
Dates to think About:
Seat Deposits Still to Come:
May 2, 2014
June 13, 2014
Dates to Keep Your Application on the Waitlist:
July 14, 2014
August 25, 2014
Final Transcript Due:
August 1, 2014
Personal Thoughts: Probably will hear about admits off the waitlist late May or late June, if there is an August admit it would probably be because someone had a personal issue or their final transcript was not completed.

Also not sure what the advantage would be to cut the entering class size down from the norm of 230~ to 180~ because tuition from the students pays the salaries of the law school employees. Also the solution if they are unhappy with job numbers, which are actually really good, would be to enhance their bar passage rate and career services which means they need more money to accomplish those goals. Fewer students does not imply the quality of each student is better. This would really impact the grading curves so where 23 students would be the top 10% now only 18 students? Getting rid of five kids would mean losing 5 top corporate salary hopefuls or aspiring academics. I think the numbers are fine to be within the 225-250 class size they say they are targeting to achieve right on the UNC website. Unless you are in secret talks with the admin, I think the 180 number is way off. If you prefer a smaller school, then you can choose that for yourself.apples89 wrote:Perhaps I'm comparing the class sizes to other schools that are known to be smaller. Was the form an actual form that they sent in an email? Or was it just this link here: http://www.law.unc.edu/admissions/apply ... tlist.aspxpketpket wrote:Fellow Waitlisters

Re: UNC c/o 2017 (2013-2014)
It took me a while to get the email after the status checker was updated. The email had the same link you posted above. I would wait until you get the email because it has lots of information to read. Also it took a day or two for my status checker to update to reflect I submitted the online form and requested to remain on the WL. As I posted already, I mailed my LOCI yesterday which was brief and only mentioned I had a promotion at work. There is lots of info on the forums here about LOCI advice so I won't re-hash the details. I think patience is key and good things come to those willing to wait. I looked back at the 2016 thread and it seamed there was a flush of admits off the WL the second half of May.vegitossj5 wrote:Was the form an actual form that they sent in an email? Re: UNC c/o 2017 (2013-2014)
Guys quick question and would really appreciate honest answers: I am not a NC resident but am an admitted student with a substantial scholarship. I also have about a 70% scholarship from BC. Other options include Minnesota, Wash U, William & Mary etc. But honestly I love Chapel Hill, love BC, going back and forth about this basically by the hour. All else being the same (cost of attendance) is BC or UNC generally considered the better school? Any feedback would be immensely helpful. Thanks
