Re: GA State C/O 2017 (Applicants 2013-2014)
I think it probably has something to do with the sheer number of applicants they get. If you can't get in to UGA and you want to stay in state GA State is probably a lot of people's top choice. Not to mention the fact that the tuition is pretty affordable and its in Atlanta. Not that I really like the area State is in...kobe1020 wrote:ready for review.

well....a lot of schools are top choices of law students so i don't think that makes Georgia State special..i applied to SMU (decision in 8 days) Baylor (decision in 2 days) Notre Dame (confirmed complete 1 day) those are private
Houston (20 days after i submitted and still "complete") GA state (even longer) UC irvine (10 days only email confirm received application) they are public
so i don't know how many more Georgia State law application they have received, if more. But I highly doubt it is the volume of application that is causing this....

Emory is a private institution, but they typically wait until February to send out regular admission decisions.kobe1020 wrote:garrettnicole92 wrote:I think it probably has something to do with the sheer number of applicants they get. When it comes down to it, each school has an independent timeline for admission decisions. I don't understand how you could expect a 1-8 day decision timeline to be the standard. I have past experience in this line of work -- I can assure you that these counselors are swimming in a pile of applications and putting in a lot of overtime. It sounds to me like the admission counselors at Notre Dame and Baylor did not take the time to thoroughly review your application. That doesn't indicate that they're on top of their job... it indicates laziness, much like a teacher who gives out all A's to their class because they want to make their job as easy as possible.
I would personally prefer schools take extra time to review my application rather than spend three minutes on an application that took me months to prepare.
That's just my two cents.

Re: GA State C/O 2017 (Applicants 2013-2014)
that makes sense. but Baylor gave me an instant admission with a decent scholarship so i don't think there is anything wrong with their fast move..not that i'm brag about it i'm not going to baylor..crg0097 wrote:Emory is a private institution, but they typically wait until February to send out regular admission decisions.kobe1020 wrote:garrettnicole92 wrote:I think it probably has something to do with the sheer number of applicants they get. as for Notre Dame...they sent me email to confirm that my application was complete. they never said anything else..isn't that what admission staff supposed to do..???
i'm not saying 1-8 days should be standard, i was just comparing them side by side...i know 1 or 8 days are exceptions...but i can't blame them for admitting me so quick with a decent scholarship...which i am fairly grateful for my stats

Anybody who's been admitted received a packet in the mail yet? I got two other acceptances after GSU's and I got packets from them last week.

I haven't received a packet. Also, when the alum called me to inform me I was accepted, she said they would be sending out emails that day. Nothing.

Oh weird. I did get the email that day, but it was just a generic congrats-on-your-acceptance thing without any information.zazu wrote:I haven't received a packet. Also, when the alum called me to inform me I was accepted, she said they would be sending out emails that day. Nothing.

I was ready for review for a month-ish and then in preliminary review for maybe 8 days? Then went to accepted.

I've been stuck in Preliminary Review as well! For those that were accepted, were you e-mailed or just checked your status via their website?

Got an email saying that I'll have to complete a form to apply for Atlanta law scholarship, not sure if that's the scholarship we are talking about or something elsewsparker wrote:Finally got the acceptance letter in the mail (decision 11/21). No scholarship info or anything.
