I went to GSU Undergrad and absolutely loved it. Great school and it's a fantastic $$ value. They're also going to have a new building in 2015 I think

Is there a general time period for which one stays under preliminary review for? Any consensus on that??

Waitlisted. I was close to their medians, but slightly below. Honestly I'm kind of happy to get out of the "Preliminary Review" status I was in for 2 months.

I received an e-mail saying the committee needed to review my file again and that a decision could not be reached at this time. On the status checker, it says "requires second review." Is this the same thing as being waitlisted? I'm from Florida, not Georgia, not sure if that makes a difference on their decision...

I received the same email...kind of shocked to be honest. But yeah is that the same as being waitlisted? Well the email says "being held," does yours say that?

Because of the number of worthy applications we receive each year, decisions do not always come easily. Therefore, your file will be placed on hold until a further review is complete.

It is our hope to have a final admissions decision made by March 15th."

I had the same email, and I too am from out of state. I assumed it was a waitlist, which is why I wrote that in my above post. It sure sounds like a waitlist.

After nearly a month under preliminary review my status now says Ready for Commitee as of 12/18. It also says that the committee will begin reviewing applications in January.

I did not receive an additional email.

The difference between a hold and a waitlist can be huge. As with all admission decisions, be sure to check with the school to make sure precisely where you stand, but for the most part you should be hoping for a hold. Remember that blind date you went on? Not the one from Craigslist with different parts than you expected – the one with that hot blonde*? A waitlisting is when you called her for a date on Friday and she said she already had plans, but you should totally call her next Wednesday to see if she’s free. A hold is when she says that she has to see if she can change her schedule, then texts you a few minutes later to ask where you’d like to meet.

When you’re waitlisted, a decision has typically already been made, and the school likes someone else better than you. Like that blonde, they’re waiting to hear back from their preferred applicants before extending you an offer. Your best bet is to send additional, high-quality materials if requested (don’t if you aren’t unless you call and they specifically say okay) and hope that a lot of students say no to the law school, thus freeing up positions for you. You also might want to call that bookish brunette who’s a little wild in the sack, otherwise known as a lower-ranked law school."

I'm 169/4.0 Non-URM. I applied to have an acceptance at a safety regional school, so my numbers might not be super helpful.

I was honestly kind of surprised to get not any scholarship offer at all though. :/

158/3.51. I had met a large number of people over there though through work with the Board of Regents from being Student Body President at my former institution. My numbers may be a little lower than others so I am not sure if my stats help or not.

I don't think it means Waitlisted. I feel like they'd say Waitlisted if it was, you know.

Then I emailed about it and was told it was with my acceptance email. It wasn't. Finally got it sent to me, and it asks for my parents' income info. I'm 28 and have been independent for ten years. Why ask for parents' income for a scholarship for older students?!

We are supposed to know for sure by March 15th
