Waitlisted and thrilled since I'm below both 25ths. Definitely waiting this one out.

I applied 3/12, went complete 3/12 (never went "under review" but had a status change 4/3) and got the waitlist e-mail today.elle.woods8 wrote:Would ya'll mind posting your complete/review dates?

Do merit scholarships come in the admit package? Or in a separate letter from the Office of Financial Aid?

Re: Boston University c/o 2017 (2013-14 admissions cycle)
I didn't get anything in my admit packet when I received it a couple weeks ago. I'm still waiting/hoping to hear about scholarships soon. My understanding is that they come separately in the mail.skatekate wrote:Do merit scholarships come in the admit package? Or in a separate letter from the Office of Financial Aid?

Applied 3/17, in 4/1 and the welcome/financial aid packet came in Saturday. Anyone know anything about negotiating scholarships or is it too soon to tell?

Can anyone tell me if the scholarship info comes in a small or large envelope? (My school has 2 separate places to pick up mail depending on it's size lol)RC0925 wrote:I called yesterday and they said they were still handing out $$

My merit scholarship came with my admit package. My need based aid came in a small letter a couple weeks after applying for it. I have already negotiated one increase and am trying to get a little more before I commit because I do have competitive offers, but BU is by far my first choice!

Ok so I didn't get any scholarship info in my admit packet, but received an email from financial aid a couple days ago about the (need-based) alumni scholarship. Should I assume then that they aren't offering me any merit based scholarship? And can you negotiate with need-based scholarships? I was about to send a negotiation email but realized the original offer was from financial aid...so now I'm confused.

I got my scholly info in my admit package. A couple of weeks back, I negotiated my financial aid package with them (a small increase, truthfully). To answer your question, they increased my Need Based, not my merit base. They did this either because my score was not high enough to warrant a merit based increase, they felt (rightly) that I would go to BU either way, or because they;re stingy. Hope this helps.guyfox wrote:Ok so I didn't get any scholarship info in my admit packet, but received an email from financial aid a couple days ago about the (need-based) alumni scholarship. I didn't get any scholarship info in my admit packet either, but I emailed them with offers from other schools, and they gave me $20,000/year, so you should try to negotiate merit based scholarships before anything else!guyfox wrote:Ok so I didn't get any scholarship info in my admit packet, but received an email from financial aid a couple days ago about the (need-based) alumni scholarship. I had 24k in the first place and the negotiate result came out yesterday, bumped to 26k a year....well I guess this is better than nothing..dcapu003 wrote:I didn't get any scholarship info in my admit packet either, but I emailed them with offers from other schools, and they gave me $20,000/year, so you should try to negotiate merit based scholarships before anything else!guyfox wrote:Ok so I didn't get any scholarship info in my admit packet, but received an email from financial aid a couple days ago about the (need-based) alumni scholarship. Re: Boston University c/o 2017 (2013-14 admissions cycle)
I've been accepted to BU with a 35,000/year scholarship, I know I'm going to attend no matter what, but I was wondering if it's worth it to try and negotiate for a full ride? I have full-tuition at other schools, many higher ranked, although none in the Boston area.
Also, excuse me if this is an obvious question, but do people still negotiate scholarships after they've put their initial seat deposit in? Or would I have to do all of this before the 4/15 deadline?
