Re: Boston University c/o 2017 (2013-14 admissions cycle)
checking in. applied 12/1.
3.19 and 159. definitely a large reach but i think i'm strong in all other areas.
w/o significant financial aid the debt might not be worth it given potential offers from less competitive schools. looking to stay in boston and benefit from professional network.

I think that ED decisions started coming out around the 18th or so, but regular decisions didn't come out until January at the earliest (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)

Weird, didn't even know BU did interviews. If you don't mind would you share your numbers either here or PM?
Without knowing them, I would think it could be a couple things.
1) YP
2) Borderline numbers or less so you're really special and they want to take a chance on you (getting to know you more if you're worth it for BU)
3) Clarification on something on your app maybe c&f issues if you have any.

hehe, I actually prefer being interviewed. Might this be some sort of YP?Will_McAvoy wrote:Yeah.. and apparently interviewing people, too? I have their median LSAT and GPA. But I'm an international applicant. Guess they interview to check if I can speak proper English?

That sounds reassuring. Ill tell you this, if anyone can ever get a good grade on the LSAT without being able to speak english, I think they should just give him the JD degree along with his score.maplecai wrote:Bajam wrote:Weird, didn't even know BU did interviews. That would be my best guest too. If you're international too then does your GPA count towards rankings? If not, then maybe that's also a reason why they're interviewing you (try and maybe get a sense of your academics).maplecai wrote:Bajam wrote:Weird, didn't even know BU did interviews. GPA does not get counted for the ranking (At least that's what I remember reading around). If I were to guess I'd say it is to understand why does a foreigner want to study law in Boston rather than in his own country.Bajam wrote:That would be my best guest too. You nailed it. I just finished my interview, it is nothing about YP, they don't even ask me why BU. I feel I may blow it since they didn't conclude with sweet words. They just told me to be patient, and the decision may take months due to large amount of applicants..Babum wrote:GPA does not get counted for the ranking (At least that's what I remember reading around). Today I got my ED decision; I didn't get an acceptance but was passed on to the regular decision pool. I applied last year too (via RD) and was waitlisted for 6months. I'm wondering if my getting passed onto the RD pool is good, bad or somewhere in the middle. BU is my first choice too.

Last year a good number of people were moved to the RD pool and almost immediately accepted, often with good $$$. It just seems like their way of picking and choosing who gets the full-tuition scholly.Torque wrote:Today I got my ED decision; I didn't get an acceptance but was passed on to the regular decision pool.
