I think the scholarship distribution is systematic, based on numbers. But you might want to check out Dean Perez's thread--I think he addresses scholarship negotiation. And, if you are still curious, you could always ask in the thread.

Very much so! I was surprised to get an email from him, I thought I'd have time to formulate a well structured and persuasive argument, yet he got the raw facts in a prompt reply. I grew up in the area and had never considered the school as an option before, but they have simply impressed me with every interaction.

That's great to hear. I had great opportunities coming out of Texas Tech--I think anyone wanting to work in Texas should strongly consider the school. If you have any questions about Texas Tech Law or law school in general, feel free to pm me.

any new info coming down the pipes?

Where do you guys plan on living? Is there an area of town or particular apartments that have a concentration of law students?

I don't know if there is an area with a concentrated law student population, but the Tech Terrace area has a high student population. It can be a little pricey, unless you find roommates, though. Not attending Tech Law, but I graduated undergrad there this past December, and I've lived in Lubbock for about 6 years. Ask me anything about the city, and I'll be as helpful and honest as I can be.

Hey, I just thought I'd add one more thing (can you tell that even though I'm not attending Tech Law, I still love my Alma Mater? haha) As far as books go, I would get them at Varsity Bookstore across from the main campus entrance on University. I used to work there, and I know how well they take care of the law students, AND they're cheaper than campus. I recommend getting your books reserved as soon as you find out which section you're in, and they will hold them for you (first pick at the cleaner used books). Ask for Bob Davenport or Brandon Kitchens. Last year there was an issue with financial aid being dispersed late due to sequestration or something? Bob allowed the law students to put their books on an in store credit charge (not a card, old school on paper like an IOU), and they came in and paid when financial aid was released. Just a suggestion though. And Wreck 'Em Tech

I honestly didn't think I'd get into Tech at all with my LSAT score. If you recall I only applied after you said they are military friendly and accepting late applications in the A&M thread. I don't know about the seat deposit and all of that just yet. I received an e-mail about activating my eRaider account which made me check my status and found out that I was accepted. Hopefully they don't take too long, but we'll see. I actually applied with them first.

I have to clarify my statements. A&M is cocky, Tech will give it to you straight.

No need to clarify. I already knew which school you were talking about. I read through this thread before I chimed in. I see a lot of positive reviews regarding the way Tech handles business.

It's surely a contributing factor to my decision. If I had to move no matter the school I chose, I would have already chosen tech! They Accepted me in 30 days, a&m has yet to, while suggesting I send a LOCI and explain a particular portion in my file with greater detail to better my chances in the next round. I called to see what's going on and asked what I could do to help things, so I may of asked for it, but Damn!

Same here. I'd have to move to go to Tech, but with A&M I can stay where I'm at. I was accepted in 18 days! I bet it'll be a 60 day timeframe for a decision from A&M :( Oh no! So the call wasn't very helpful at all I see. Guess I won't be calling to check on things Lol!

It wouldn't hurt, she was surely trying to help, but by creating more work. Which, has not been requested by anyone else.
