In as of last Friday! But no notification of scholarships. One of the emails said that you have to be interviewed for consideration for scholarships. Does this mean there's little chance now? Should I try to ask? I submitted 1/1, was under review since 2/8, not sure about the other status dates since I didn't check.

Also, I'm curious just for curiosity's sake. Can anyone tell me why UMD is ranked as high it is? Is it because of its good healthcare and environmental law programs? I know it has dropped a few spots in the past few years, but do you think it will stay in the top 50? I just don't want to go and then have its rank plummeted. I'm also concerned that UMD seems to be very regional and filter into only Baltimore. Any constructive thoughts?

I think the cost is quite doable especially since it's our of state tuition is much cheaper than other schools, and if you are a MD resident even better. Also apartments and townhouses nearby are not as expensive as other big cities. I am coming from a very expensive city so that is why UMD is so appealing to me.

Ignore the rankings.

This is the kind of data you need to be looking at to make your decision:

Is Maryland's employment outcomes considered bad or just okay?

Ditto. This is the worst.

Was told today that the next batch of scholarships would be released via e-mail tomorrow evening or Friday.

I'm in the Decision Made 3/21 boat. I called the admissions office today and asked if decisions were mailed or emailed. The guy told me all decisions are being normally mailed. Then I asked him if he knew when I would hear back and he said, "those decisions will be mailed today or at the very latest tomorrow." Not really sure what to make of "those decisions", but I guess we should be hearing back next week sometime.

Yeah perhaps, but it seems odd that they would email W/Ls and acceptances but mail rejections.

Because they don't care how long it takes for you to find out if you're rejected but they want you to respond ASAP to an acceptance or WL.

Are you expecting a scholarship response because you were interviewed?

I don't understand their deal with merit-based scholarships. Finally emailed them with my other scholarships, all 20-30k per year and asked why i didn't get anything from them/if it was coming…we'll see what happens.

No, I was awarded a scholarship via mail with no interview but I asked them if they would be reevaluating them anytime before the deadline because I had some money elsewhere. They responded that if I was being reevaluated it would be issued tonight/tomorrow with the "next batch" of scholarship e-mails.

An estimated $58k/year COA even with scholarship is pretty scary to me.

Good luck everyone!

Mine had only said Decision Made for the last week but now it says Waitlisted. Guess it takes time to truly update.

8k/year. Comprable schools have offered me 20+ a year. Anyone had luck with negotiating for more? I really like Maryland but it wouldn't be smart for me to let go of the money elsewhere at schools with similar employment stats and rank.

I got my scholarship via email today and I didn't interview. In fact went complete on the 19th and got accepted on the 21st. I got 8k too which seems small
compared to other schools but I wasn't expecting anything so im happy with it.

need to work in DC during day; how is traffic commuting from DC downtown to Baltimore in the afternoon around 5pm? 1hr?
also, does UMaryland have any reputation in DC?

I got into the PT program as well. Have you heard anything regarding scholarship offers?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
