How good is the MD shuttle system?
Ridgely's, from what I hear, is great. Rent is generally cheap and it's safe. You'd also be close to the science library which is open late (the law school lib closes pretty early). I know it gets loud sometimes when the O's play, but it's nice to have a block party feel every now and then. You'd be close to Pickles which is a plus.

The shuttle system is great. I'd look at the map and maybe find housing that way. That's what I did and I'm conveniently a block away from a stop. NextBus will be your best friend with the shuttle -- sometimes there are traffic delays and some drivers speed through the routes, so you have to keep an eye on the map.

It depends on what "cheap rent" means to you. Zenith is easily $1200 for a studio -- I pay half of that for a studio with utilities included. There are no grocery stores near school either, so unless you have a car...it gets pretty difficult. I personally don't recommend living around school because as a young woman I just don't feel safe in the area at night. The building might be secure, but the surrounding area really isn't. Again, a lot of this is dependent on your personal comfort level with Baltimore and debt-level (if that's an issue).

As for the wait list issue -- I wasn't wait listed, but I know people who were. They kept expressing interest in the school and eventually got in. I don't know their numbers though.

Did anyone get a call from admissions asking if they are still interested? And if someone has in the past..what does it mean? Thanks!

Its probably a good sign since they took the effort to call you. You should definitely follow up with the call and say you are interested and why you want to attend.

Was called late last week as well. I'm assuming this is a good sign and means there's going to be movement off the waitlist for those who said they were still interested.

I was accepted off the waitlist last week but ended up withdrawing this morning. Good luck to everyone.

I got accepted off the wait list 6/4, and yes I received a call to see if I was interested a week or two beforehand.

Was accepted off the wait list last week. Trying to decide between Nebraska & here. Can anyone tell me (current 1L's especially, but anyone too) would there be a significant advantage to going to Maryland over Nebraska. I'm interested in criminal law and litigation, and I know that UMD has better clerkship rates, but it is also about 50k more a year to go there and I am just not sure if the difference between schools is worth 50,000. Thanks for any help!

I was placed on the waitlist on March 31. I decided to send a LOCI shortly after. I didn't say that I would definitely attend if admitted. I got a call today gauging my interest (possibly because I didn't tell them in my LOCI that I would definitely go). I didn't say that I would definitely go in the call either. About an hour later, I received my acceptance via e-mail.

I'm on several other waitlists still, so I have some decisions to make now. I'll post again when I make my decision.

GL all!

Decided to withdraw after a minimal scholarship offer. Hopefully someone awesome on the waitlist gets my spot, and money!

Off the wait list with some scholarship money. I wrote a second LOCI and got off the wait list a few days later! I'll be at Maryland next year!

Still on the waitlist. No calls, emails, or letters. Submitted a second LOCI. Losing hope at this point lol
