yes sir. otherwise i can't think of any other reason they are not letting me in yet.Attax wrote:Are you OOS?kobe1020 wrote:i don't think there is any reason for them to reject me...not reasonable ones...SonlenNightfall wrote:Yeah, I'm not sure what to think about your situation. I have a 173 LSAT and above median GPA and they didn't YP me (but I am in-state). They may be prioritizing responding to in-state apps, but unless you have been rejected or waitlisted, I wouldn't call it YP. I think they are expecting you to get into a way better school and just withdraw (so they don't have to make a decision), but if you stick it out and show interest they will let you in. Probably with a large scholarship as well.kobe1020 wrote:congrats to all admits ! r y'all in state or what? i figured the sloppiness of them letting me hanging is because i'm OOS but that is ridiculous..
applied 11/14 and still under review. SERIOUSLY HOUSTON? this is getting ugly.
167 and above average GPA. maybe got YP-ed?
maybe i should send a LOCI or something like that?

People who have been admitted, did you ever get a hard copy of your acceptance letter?
I was admitted last week and my "Information for Admitted Students 2014" booklet came in today, but there was no letter. Just making sure this is what everyone got because I was surprised that there was no letter included.

Got the admitted students view book thing, but no letter yet.
Also, FWIW, I was accepted about a week ago. Above 75th GPA and slightly above 75th LSAT, OOS, non-URM. Anyone know about what kind of scholly I could expect??

Can anyone comment on campus life at Houston? Is the student body any less miserable/competitive than elsewhere?
Not the best person to answer this, but PMed you anyway.

My numbers were lower than the 75ths and I got in-state + 15k, so you should get more than that. OOS, non-URM as well.JRO1989 wrote:I want to say that others like you got something like in-state + 15kAT9 wrote:Got the admitted students view book thing, but no letter yet.

Re: Houston c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 Cycle)
To those asking about campus life - a lot of it will depend on your section. Apparently I got the chill laid back group and we are very collaborative. We all help each other with notes and studying, at career fairs we will enter conversations together and say great stuff (true of course) about our classmates. I heard some of the other sections were not necessarily as group-oriented, but when school wide events happen there seems to be a lot of friendliness there.
In short, don't be the weird and mean person because school will be what you put into it. I am naturally shy, but it is even easy for me to hang out with section mates. And considering how much of the class will only be in local small firms, we all realize how important knowing each other could be in the future.
The SBA tries really hard to have lots of events, with alcohol for those of you who care.

Thanks for the input. Let me ask you something, I just sent my fafsa over to UH now that it is one of only 2-3 real possibilities... I got my scholly info which I was pretty happy with but, in your experience, should I expect anything in the way of a grant?viz-luv wrote:To those asking about campus life - a lot of it will depend on your section. I honestly have no idea about fafsa, since I have never qualified for it. I think there is a guesstimation calculator you can google though and I do know we have some need based grants. sorryThanks for the input. Well, you need to fill out the fafsa even just to take out a stafford loan. But I guess you've just been paying in cash, which is great if you can swing it lolviz-luv wrote:I honestly have no idea about fafsa, since I have never qualified for it. Cool, thanks. Houston could be a player for me if tuition gets down to the $30K-ish range (total).IgosduIkana wrote:My numbers were lower than the 75ths and I got in-state + 15k, so you should get more than that. Re: Houston c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 Cycle)
random PSA - if you are calculating how much COA will be try to account for a possible tuition increase. The current administration has worked very hard and kept tuition from going up this year and are committed to trying for the same next year, but we are getting a new dean so there really is no guarantee. Since tuition was kept down a couple years in a row it is probably only a matter of time and a new dean might rock the boat a little.
Just a thought since it is so important to keep costs down when looking at a place like Houston.
good luck to all those still waiting

LST will show a good breakdown, but it is about 17.6% to large firms - so 46ish people?About how many people go into big law each year from Houston each year.

If your application was complete by the ED deadline, you SHOULD hear back by the end of February.
