Maybe Houston will pull an SMU and release its first batch of decisions earlier than it did last cycle.

Assuming its an acceptance it would make for a good Thanksgiving. I'm a little above lsat median and slightly below gpa median so I think I'll be good but we'll see.jts723 wrote:That'd make for a pretty solid Thanksgiving.TheJanitor6203 wrote:So much for hearing by the end of the week. Re: Houston c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 Cycle)
My thought exactly. When I applied for undergrad I put in about a dozen applications, and blew off one really good school (Brandeis) because they were dicking me around for parent finical info when I'd been financially independent for 4 years and they weren't going to give me a dollar.Winston1984 wrote:Same thing happened to me (we have similar numbers too) I went ahead and applied anyway. I know that app fees are high, but the way I see it, even if you decide it isn't the school for you, you don't want to wonder what if. Not to mention it can only help to have more offers in hand with scholarship negotiations.AT9 wrote:No, which is why I'm not checking in as an applicant in this threadWinston1984 wrote:Were you guys successful in soliciting a merit based fee waiver?
My numbers are at/above their 75ths but they only gave me a need based waiver request form. I'm not sure that they do merit based waivers.
To further the point: if you've gone to a good school, chances are its cost you 100k-200k (not including grants/rich daddies), and the sticker price for your law school with attending costs (food, housing, etc. for three years again), and you're in a tiddly about an application fee up to $75? :/ I spent the better part of a thousand in ug apps, and don't regret it. You shouldn't either when your total education, undergrad and grad, has a sticker price of over a quarter million.

Or Perhaps your session timed out. Please return to your Law Schools Website."
Thanks for finding it for me though. I'm just going to wait for emails/mail with their decision.. they would probably send you an email if it's incomplete or whatever reason, right?
EDIT: never mind just found it. thanks again

Sorry, I totally just saw this. Been pretty busy this past month.AT9 wrote:Was it merit based? Solicited or unsolicited? If merit, what are your numbers? I tried a few months ago but it didn't work.Attax wrote:Checking in! Got a waiver, but would apply regardless since my tuition is covered.
It was merit based, kind of solicited/unsolicited. I met with an adcomm at the UT fair, got her card, emailed, and she sent one back without me asking (I was just asking about some follow up questions).

Re: Houston c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 Cycle)
I've been doing the same thing, haha. I feel like if no one hears anything tomorrow, then perhaps the first week of december is the best bet since Thanksgiving is almost here. I went to a law school forum and talked to a 3L student at the UofH table. She had applied a few days after the early application deadline and heard back by second week in December. That would have been a few years ago, but seems like a pretty good timeline.

It looks like of the people on LSN who applied, 2 people accepted and 1 denied. http://houston.lawschoolnumbers.com/stats/1314
....Actually, this looks like a lie. I clicked on those users and the applied in spring of this year. Sorry, haha.

Still no word from UHLC? They seem a little slow to the schools up North.

Same. I wish they had never changed the status because since it's changed I've been checking my status 4+ times per day.leib10 wrote:Mine's been in review since 11/20... no updates after that.
