So I'm held for a second review. Is this some sort of soft wait list? Can't find anything definitive through the search function.

Wish I could be of service. I've been complete since mid-November with no word... so it's crazy to think that you're already in your second review and I haven't even gotten a pass around yet lol.BentleyLittle wrote:So I'm held for a second review. I went complete around the same time as you and went under review a few days ago. If you aren't UR already, I am sure you will be soon. Good luck! The Dark Kite wrote:Wish I could be of service. On an unrelated note: Anyone have any idea about how UIUC fares in the Chitown big law market?

How long before you were "held" did your status turn to "in review"? I submitted early Dec. and it changed to "in review" last week. I'm expecting to be held too since it's a bit of a reach for me.BentleyLittle wrote:So I'm held for a second review. Is this some sort of soft wait list? I went UR on 12/2 and just updated to held today. I'm above median and have been accepted at other schools so I'm not sure what the deal is.mx23250 wrote:How long before you were "held" did your status turn to "in review"? Yeah, that is very strange and I doubt it would be a YP move?BentleyLittle wrote:I went UR on 12/2 and just updated to held today. I'm just hoping that they can't decide how much $ to offer or something like that.

Definitely strange considering you are above both medians and a URM. You should be a hot commodity for them. Keep up hope, I bet you get in with $$$BentleyLittle wrote:I'm just hoping that they can't decide how much $ to offer or something like that.

That's kind of what I'm thinking. Maybe they hold full scholarship contenders for review/approval of full scholarships. Either way I'm guessing you'll get in with some good $$.BentleyLittle wrote:I'm just hoping that they can't decide how much $ to offer or something like that.

Anyone know how the falsified data has affected OCI? Reduction in firms?

Hey guys, congrats to all the admits. I'm a current 1L, so if you have any Qs, just ask.

Love the tar. So as far as the scholarship goes, does the amount stay the same if you are able to obtain residency 2nd year? I know some schools either eliminate the scholarship if you become instate, reduce it, or it is basically impossible to obtain it. What kind of grades/rank are needed to do well at OCI? LST has about a quarter of the grads working in biglaw/fed clerkship, but I always assume LST is a little on the high side.Chardee_MacDennis wrote:Hey guys, congrats to all the admits. Checking in, as this cycle goes along its looking more and more likely that I will end up at U of I, which I don't think is a bad thing!

Not sure re: scholarship Q, so you'd have to check with admissions. It's incredibly difficult, if not impossible, to earn residency if you're here for only school purposes. Schollys generally, though, don't come with stips so long as you maintain good academic standing. Tuition is also locked in for all three years.Winston1984 wrote:Love the tar. Re: OCI, from what 2Ls have said, if you're top 10%, you're in good shape. The further you are from there, though, things get dicey. If you have a hard-science background, you can be a bit lower, top 1/4-1/3, and still get some good interviews.

New medians if current applicants haven't seen them yet. My class's LSAT dropped 3 points, but drop seems to be similar to other schools like ND.

In via email, 23k/yr scholarship! My parents went to UIUC for undergrad and I have a lot of family in the area, plus Chicago is pretty much my ideal place to work. With a scholarship like that for a school that seems to do reasonably well in the Chicago area, UIUC definitely is a serious contender.
