I wouldn't be. I was originally complete 11/5 and didn't get my first update until 1/21

Thanks! I have been worried as UCLA has just put me on their waitlist...

These guys are slower than Cornell. I submitted to UCLA and USC on the same day in November.. I was accepted to UCLA before I had a first review here, and I've been on second review since early December.

Do they just hate me, or is the same experience for many here? Stats aren't YP worthy.

It really is. For being roughly equivalent schools (numbers-wise), UCLA has earned many, many more points with their promptness, both in review and scholarships, and with their outreach.

I've also been told by a lot of people that USC is in a really crappy area of town compared to Westwood -- do those with more experience in LA agree? I've only been there a few times and wasn't paying any attention to schools.

USC was an undergraduate option for me..it is in a bad part of town. Westwood is certainly much nicer. Ucla also has a better football and basketball team, for what it's worth.

For what it's worth I heard back from USC before UCLA and applied to both mid-November.

And USC is definitely in a worse part of town but the campus is very impressive and as a private school they have a much higher focus on the Alumni network AKA The Trojan Network. I think this is why it's known to have an edge job placement-wise in Southern California.

So they just hate me then :D. Are you in-state? I have no ties to the region, so that's maybe a reason... Or, maybe 170s catch their eye a little faster.

Born and raised in southern california and yes westwood is one of the nicer areas of the city and USC is located in one of the not so good areas of the city. Having said this, if you do not live on site, the commute to UCLA is probably the worst (405 N or S). Accepted to both schools and have been very impressed by UCLA outreach despite the fact that my dad went to USC. If anyone has any questions regarding the location or what you can expect from area or personal experiences feel free to pm me. :D

USC alum here,

The surrounding area east of USC is "bad" but not down right hood. Compared to Westwood, yeah, UCLA has a way nicer, more upscale neighborhood. However it all depends on personal preference. USC is also blocks away from downtown LA, and LA Live, which both have a variety of awesome things to do. I've never had problem getting around LA from USC, either. No need taking the parking lot we call the 405.

I'm a USC alum as well. Where I live now it would be easy for me to commute to USC, and for some reason I dread the thought of moving to the Westside (even though it's technically nicer than Silverlake but whatevs). Also, UCLA law ~might~ have nicer facilities. The library is gorgeous.

I'm still ride or die USC though. I'm pretty confident being a USC alum is the major reason I even got an interview for the job I'm at now...

yeah I agree about facilities.. There are so many many beatiful buildings at USC built just recently(cinema) and the sports arenas but they still have that old outdated law school... How about a new building for the law school?

Admitted via email! Feel pretty crappy about not writing the Rothman (the prompt really turned me off) but I hope they will show me some love because I would seriously consider USC if money was not a such a huge factor.

Edit: Applied on 1/11
