eta: this year's ranking use 2012 stats because 2013 stats aren't out yet.
Oh- I didn't realize that. I figured that the new rankings would use the 2013 employment numbers since the 2013 numbers come out at about the same time as the rankings. I think the new 2013 employment numbers are supposed to come out on March 15- can anybody confirm that?

Yeah from what I've heard I'm pretty sure they're going to start sending out around the 15 th with everything out by April 1st

As per their applicant online status:
"In the William & Mary Law School admission process, initial review occurs as files become complete. The majority of decisions will be finalized during the month of March following the application deadline date when the competition in the applicant pool is known and assessed. We anticipate decisions for all applicants will be sent by April 1. Applicants will receive earlier notification if a decision has been finalized."

So I don't ever post on here, but I have to ask: how indicative of a bad outcome is it to be placed on hold YESTERDAY? I applied 3/5 and went under review on 3/10. I feel like at this point it seems kind of unnecessary since all of the applications are in. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I was just wondering if there was a facebook group or anything for the class of 2017. I'm trying to look into finding
a roommate.
I can’t wait to visit! I tried looking for facebook group but couldn’t fine one, they said they would send an invite though after the seat deposit was paid so hopefully will get invited soon because I’m in the same boat.

Obviously I'm not on the admissions staff, however the deadline for apps was 3/1. Their policy is to accept late apps, but they say that your chances of admission are definitely affected by late submission. I would guess that you are going to be held until all the on-time apps are reviewed and have decisions.

Well, they postponed the deadline to the 5th, so I didn't technically submit it late. Not that it looks good to wait until the last minute, but it wasn't considered late.

Oh, that's right I forgot about that email. Unfortunately I would still guess that you're likely to be one of the later files reviewed, unless your numbers are exceptionally high. But if it was in by the deadline then you should have a decision by 4/1, I don't think they've sent out anything delaying the originally stated deadline. They don't "guarantee" decisions by 4/1, but they have continued to state that they anticipate being finished with the review by then. It's also possible they're reviewing files according to scores, so if you're above their medians you might have a decision sooner.

Got the admissions email yesterday (3/11) after applying on 2/26. Waiting to get the mailed packet in hand, but honestly shocked by how fast they responded. LSAT 155/GPA 3.82

Were you put on hold for further review initially?

No, I went from Complete to In Review and accepted in the span of 2 weeks. One of my best friends who has a 162/3.6 has been Pending Further Review at W&M since early February though. No rhyme or reason it seems.

You must have just really impressed them, good for you! Some people downplay the importance of your personal statement, but maybe you just presented them with something they were looking for. Congratulations on your acceptance!

The sense that I get is that W&M has a very specific, dare I say unique, academic culture. It's one of those schools where I think a strong PS can really make a difference. I got accepted very early in the cycle with a <3.0 GPA / 165 LSAT. Perhaps they take a more holistic approach to their admissions.

This may be true. My numbers would suggest that I stand almost no chance yet I've been held for further review.

I felt the same way - I submitted before taking the Feb LSAT and my first score was WELL below their 25th, I honestly couldn't believe I got held.

According to last year's thread, they saved most of the WL/ding until the end of March. Didn't see anyone's app on hold though.

Got the packet today in the mail, offered $10k a year. Just so everyone knows, at least in my packet, you have to submit your SoI by April 1st. Not sure how much that'll change with the admissions process being pushed back.
