University of Tennessee C/O 2017 (2013-2014 Applicants)

Post by AT9 » Mon Sep 30, 2013 8:48 pm

Submitted my app over the weekend and got a view book today, so thought I'd get things started.

Does anyone happen to know at what level they give out scholarships? I'm a little ways above both 75th's, but I couldn't really discern any pattern on LSN.

Tennessee is really intriguing. Beautiful part of the country, nice looking city, and pretty good employment stats. I'm OOS with no ties, however, so don't know that it would be a realistic option for me.

Good luck to everyone!

Doesn't look like there's much interest in UTK here but....

In today via phone call from the admissions office! Years of college courses, several months of LSAT prep, and countless hours thinking about and considering law school options....now I can finally say I've been admitted to law school (and a good one for my preferences, too). Feels good!

I'm about to. My stats aren't as stellar as yours though. 3.96/hoping for a 160 on the Oct 13 LSAT. Congrats! You definitely have a shot at some great schools with those stats.

Thanks! If you score low 160's, I don't see how your numbers are of lower quality than mine. That's an amazing GPA. Don't know where you want to go, but I imagine you'll have some good options and you'd definitely be in at UTK.

Has anyone other than the OP heard a decision yet? I submitted my app on 10/7 and it has been in review the entire time. This in and of its self doesn't surprise me as much as the above poster stating he had heard from UTK in re a decision. When I spoke with the admissions office they said files likely wouldn't even be reviewed until November due to new faculty on the admissions committee needing to be "trained" whatever that means.

However if you guys are hearings decisions it certainly makes me feel better about not hearing anything yet. My stats are pretty terrible and I applied knowing it was an extremely long shot that I would be offered a spot or at best wait listed based on the strengths of my softs alone.

Where can you check to see if your application is under review?

Once you apply, they will send you an email with login information for the status checker on the utk law website. I was accepted really fast thankfully! Good luck to you!

How do you like UTK Law? Other students seem to really like it there. They have said it is less cutthroat and more of a community. Is this how you feel? Also, can you speak to the financial aid process at UT? Thank you! Go Vols!

Sorry this response took so long-prepping for finals has begun! UT Law is great. I agree with the less cutthroat/community comment (at least so far). I'm very glad I chose UTK over other schools and I haven't heard anyone who has regretted their choice. Financial aid has been easy to work with and there are a lot of scholarships available even after you are a student. Visit. I think you will be impressed.

I'm a undergrad here, so I've visited. I just hope I get a good scholarship.

In your opinion how well do non-traditional/veteran students fit in at UTK law?

So I got an e-mail from a prof today. At first it seemed like a generic "please come here" e-mail, but towards the end the prof mentioned that s/he looked at my Facebook and used some of my interests/"likes" and tied them into an attempt to sell me on the school (it involved a favorite movie and sports team). I found it a little creepy, but also impressive s/he went to that length to individualize the e-mail. So, be aware...they are watching!

Also, an alumnus e-mailed me and was really straightforward and detailed with my questions...even gave me an honest and fair estimate on how much debt he thought UTK was worth. Must admit that I'm impressed with their personalized attention.

UTK: Since you're apparently monitoring me, a large scholarship would be nice!

Did anyone else receive another "thank you for applying" email this morning? I received one about a week after I applied, and now another about 2 weeks later. :? Of course, I'm probably reading into what is just a mistake, but I'd really like to know if means anything.

In today via snail mail! I missed a call from Knoxville a few days ago, so maybe that was an acceptance call? Letter said scholarship info will come out once decisions are made. No one else has received a scholarship yet correct?

Hmm...I went in review 10/30. Granted, my stats aren't as stellar so maybe the adcom is waiting to compare me with other applicants. Did your online status checker ever change from "in review" to "decision made"?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
