I was waitlisted last week. I really liked the school so I am still keeping my fingers crossed.

Yeah I live in the area too, so I'm hoping today since it was supposed to go out on Monday.
Mine came today! I ran home at lunch and picked it up. Hope yours is there too!!

Very excited about SMU overall. Not sure that they will be my lowest loan option even with keeping my job and paying living expenses out of pocket but I do like my job and I like Dallas so this might be a difficult decision.
This was always my only option so I understand. And mine didn't come today, looks like one more day for me.

Does anyone know if scholarship negotiations need to be completed before the first seat deposit or if you can still negotiate after the first seat deposit.

I went complete 3/20. Still no decision.

What are they doing?

Oh, seriously though, does anyone know if scholarship awards come with admittance, or is there a lag?

It comes with the admit package, I got mine exactly a week after I was notified.

I was recently admitted but did not receive any scholarship offer in my packet, which is odd since I am median in LSAT and upper on GPA. Is there a lag or did I not receive a scholarship?

Maybe call to be sure.

In the blue folder was a letter stating scholarship amount when I received mine.

I didn't receive any scholarship info either, but I wasn't expecting any. LSAT is real low. You should definitely call just to double check.

I'm in with 50% scholarship. The scholarship information came in the mail with my acceptance packet so I would definitely call if you were expecting $ and didn't get any.

Not that I've ever heard of. The occasions where I've heard it happening are right before orientation starts.

Any idea on when orientation starts? How many days is it typically and what all does it entail? Just curious!

Two days. Picture (for intranet facebook), meeting your mentor group (which is half of your small LRWA section), dean talk, intro by library folks, distribution of Lexis/Westlaw logins, intro by public service folks, intro by career services folks who explain why they won't be speaking to you again until Nov 1, intro by LRWA folks and explanation of the grammar test/online course you have to do (assuming they still use that), going out with your mentor group, nice dinner at the student center where successful alumni speak about why you made the right choice, talk by prof on how to brief cases. Maybe a talk by financial aid folks, but I don't thinks so since that's generally squared away for most people by then. What did I leave out?

BTW, the sections break down like this (for FT)
Class =~ 160 students
Class broken into 2 sections = 80 students -- You'll have all your doctrinal classes with the full section
Section broken into 4 LRWA sections = 20 students
LRW section broken into 2 mentor groups = 10 students (+2 upperclass mentors)

As for when it starts, in 2012 classes started on Friday and orientation was Mon-Tues. That changed this year but I forget exactly how.
