As to your last question, do you mean if they got 10 more points at some point after their application and scholarship had been decided? In that case, I suspect SMU would consider the higher score... in fact someone else ITT talked about the fact that their scholarship was likely under reconsideration for that reason.

I talked about it...I was admitted and given $24K per year with a 164 and 3.53. I also have an M.D. with a 3.93 gpa. I retook and got a 171. They reviewed my app and did not increase it. It makes me a splitter, but still inline with the 90Kers, in my opinion.

Now I am non-traditional and quite a bit older than all of you, so that may work against me. It makes sense to me that they might want to invest more in someone who will have a longer career.

So I'm not discouraging anyone from trying, but I think a 7 point bump on retake is pretty significant, so if that doesn't encourage a non-negotiating school to negotiate, I'm not sure what will. It's not like any of us can change our gpa. Give it a shot and see what happens - the worst they can do is say no and you will be stuck with $72K.

I honestly think that's so crazy. That's a hugeeee increase in LSAT score. I'm hoping that as more people withdraw and with less people applying in general, they'll end up negotiating or redistributing some funds. Obviously not going to get my hopes up about that lol, but a girl can dream.

Planning on visiting the school this weekend. Super excited since I've never been to Dallas before. Are they pretty flexible with tours? I was hoping to take one on Saturday.

For a Saturday tour, I'm not sure if they do it or not but you would definitely need to contact the admissions office in advance. There will be no one there and it's the first weekend of spring break (though there will be some 1Ls in the library working on their briefs).

Yes, same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. My date changed to 2/11 but the status stayed the same. I have no idea what that means.

My recent LSAT was a 164, which is only a 3 point increase. At this point, I'm barely entertaining the idea of them increasing.
The only difference between you guys and me are that I am a URM/AA male, which may be a significant difference in the law schools eyes(according to the released statistics from last cycle, only 21 AA males received a 164 or above last cycle. 53 AA total including females)... I don't really see that as anywhere comparable to a 10 point increase, though like you said they may have factored in your age.

How did you guys go about negotiations? Like, how did you phrase your email?

Campus is gorgeous, as well as the school itself. I'm kind of disappointed I didn't get to see more of Dallas while I was there, though. Going to try to make another trip up there for a weekend in the coming months.
