Re: Georgetown c/o 2017 Applicants Thread (2013-2014)
quick question- I got my admit letter in the mail, but no word on any scholarships. Most school acceptances came with a scholarship letter as well- does this mean no scholarship? or does Georgetown wait several weeks before letting people know if they got scholarships (I know GW waits until like February)?

How/when does Georgetown even offer scholarships? I found some info about Need-Based grants (which they say need to be paid back) on their website, but couldn't find any information about merit scholarships of any type from the school.phillywc wrote:No scholly info yet as far as I know.pdxdmouth2013 wrote:quick question- I got my admit letter in the mail, but no word on any scholarships. Hi everyone!
First congratulations to the admits!!
I'm becoming more and more anxious because I haven't heard anything from GULC and although I think it's normal I just needed to share my anxiety with you guys since you can understand this whole waiting situation.
I applied ED on thanksgiving day (11.28).
My app went complete(d) on 12.10 (a letter of rec was misplaced/lost).
I had the first date update on 12.16 and the second the following day (12.17) and since then nothing.
When do you think I should hear from them? Any opinion on what decision I should expect?

Emails went out from Cornblatt with information on the open house and the website being up and running.

Does anyone have any helpful information regarding writing a LOCI? I was held at Gtown and I've been considering writing one although I don't really have anything to send in along with one (such as an updated transcript). Is this a good idea?

I'm very curious to know what those dates change mean...
And yes, let's cross our fingers! And let's hope that is it going to be some good news too

Don't worry! I'm pretty sure their offices weren't open Christmas-January 2, so a longer wait time compared to pre-Christmas people should be normal. It's hard to predict what two date changes mean. I think interview requests usually come around the third status updateMsJ4ck wrote:Hi everyone!

Re: Georgetown c/o 2017 Applicants Thread (2013-2014)
First, I am happy to say I found out I was admitted today via the email from Dean Cornblatt.
Submitted: 11/24
Complete 12/16
Admitted 1/3
As a side note, I had 0 date changes and was not invited to an interview (but I am not in the states).
My GPA was below the 25th percentile but my LSAT was more like 75th percentile (typical splitter).
I was wondering if anybody else who applied RD got invited to the open house at the end of this month. The email said it was for "early-admitted students". I am wondering about this because I applied RD. However, I did email them in December to ask if it was possible to change to ED. I was informed that it was possible, but I needed to submit the ED form first. I decided against it and never sent in the from to change my application.
I just want to make sure there was not some mixup. The quick turnaround, lack of date changes, and language in the invitation have me worried about it. I can email them, but I don't want to have that awkward conversation if it is not necessary. If you are admitted ED does your acceptance specifically say so?
Thanks in advance for any information.

I also got the email that I was accepted today, with the same wording, and I am an RD candidate! I think he just means 'early admitted' as in admitted early in the cycle, at least that was how I understood it.
I submitted on the 27th of November; 25%-50% LSAT and >75% GPA (I didn't keep track of the status updates).
I also wasn't invited to an interview

Thanks for passing that on kmj.
I think you are right, I just wanted to be sure about everything. It sounds like our applications were similar. I guess we should not be surprised that we were excluded from interviews, being that we are out of the country.
Congratulations on your acceptance.

Congrats on being accepted you guys! Question, has anyone received an actual admissions packet with financial aid info and whatnot?
I applied 10/6, and got my acceptance letter on 11/19 so it's been almost two months.

I have only received the email, but it looks like my timeline is well behind yours.
Also I am in East Asia so mail from the States can be hit or miss sometimes.

I believe all this information will be provided via the admitted students website and not via a physical packet.east_coaster wrote:Congrats on being accepted you guys! Question, has anyone received an actual admissions packet with financial aid info and whatnot?

Re: Georgetown c/o 2017 Applicants Thread (2013-2014)
Since Georgetown is so big, they have a tough time deciding who to give merit aid to. Last year, they sent out e-mails in February to a bunch of students telling them they were being considered for merit-based aid and basically asked them to write a short response saying how much they want and why they deserve it (a lot of people took offense to being asked for extra info and last year's TLS forum is full of angry posts). Most schools just give offers based on grades, so at least Gtown is looking at additional information. There might be additional e-mails or requests for information and students will usually receive offers sometime in late March. If you get an offer, they'll usually give you a short deadline to accept and withdraw apps to other schools (they gave me 5 days). I haven't heard of many people receiving really substantial awards. Most aid is need-based, so that's what they focus on.berndie90 wrote:How/when does Georgetown even offer scholarships? Is this really true? My understanding was that outside HYS, schools like to say they take need into account but in actuality it's never a major factor.kraffcook wrote:Most aid is need-based, so that's what they focus on.

I'm international living outside the country and I still got an interview invite. I applied 11/13, went complete 11/20, interviewed 12/19 and had my last checker updated on 12/23. Received my admit letter 1/2. I'm a splitter through and through, <25 GPA and >75 LSAT.gadzoom wrote:Thanks for passing that on kmj.
