Wow, makes me wonder why I havent been dinged yet.

They are probably too busy triple checking ScottRiqui's undergrad transcript to get to your app.

I thought that UT's tuition was locked at a flat rate for 3 years and depended on your year of matriculation. E.g., Zuck will pay a lower tuition next year than those of us who begin next fall. Am I wrong?

Then I won't be racing home from work tomorrow to open mine. I didn't have a chance to speak to the Dean when I was accepted, otherwise I would have asked if the packet they were sending was going to have scholarship information in it.

Doesn't seem to be too many out-of-state acceptances so far either, so we can't really compare much.

Scholarship usually comes week after acceptance letter

Are you out-of-state with no mention of scholarship during the acceptance call or in the admission packet?

I did too, but I couldn't find anything that says that on their website, nor could I get a straight answer from admissions. Maybe it's a "tuition is generally locked in but we reserve the right to raise it so we won't tell you that it is actually locked in so you don't get mad at us if we are broke and decide to squeeze you for more cash down the line" thing. 2Ls and 3Ls say its locked in so I guess we should just operate on that assumption.

For our class, they did not raise tuition from the year before (or, it was negligible if they did). Not sure what that means for the current crop of 0Ls. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes up because they seem to be more generous with "scholarships" lately, plus the class size is much smaller than it used to be. Hopefully not though.

http://www.utexas.edu/law/finaid/costs/ - it's a flat rate, so we're locked in.

From reading the Spivey thread, I wouldn't be surprised if UT decides to raise tuition while increasing scholarships so people think they're getting a better deal. It would have worked for me, I think lol.

I'm sitting at 3 weeks with no scholly letter yet and I'd be pretty surprised if they didn't offer me anything given that my LSAT is at their 75th.

I see the flat rate thing now. Don't remember seeing that before. I think I always keyed into the *subject to change and when I asked the question Dean Ingram gave me a confusing answer. But good to know.

For people considering UT, getting locked in to one tuition rate is pretty sweet. Lots of schools, especially the super expensive ones, go up a few percentage points every year and that can mean thousands of dollars. It's really getting out of hand.

Also, out of state tuition at UT is 50K? YIKES.

Yeah, it's time to let this one die. It was a disruption to the thread in the first place, and grungy and I have been cool for a while now anyway.

hey guys, just checking in! Accepted yesterday afternoon via a really nice voicemail. Texas resident, non-URM. Just below 75th percentile on GPA and LSAT. I'm so excited! Hopefully I'll see a lot of y'all there :)

Not sure if that's what it means for the law school/if they're related, but I can speak on the locked in for the Undergrad stuff at least as it may carry over. As an undergrad (so may be 100% unrelated), they set a flat rate for full time, any classes more than that and you don't pay extra, so I pay the same for 12 hours as an UG as I would for 18 hours. It has varied year to year as tuition increases are implemented, however.

Just double checked, and it is different for law (and other grad programs).
