Based on a previous post by the same person, they send an e-mail.
I got the same thing today, it's an application for a scholarship, so it seems they don't work out scholarships when deciding to admit/deny/wait-list.
Yes, I got an e-mail and applied about a week ago.

Did you write that paragraph at the end of the scholarship application? Or just apply for merit aid?
I think so - I just mentioned some reasons why I'd be getting no family support during law school because I checked the box for need-based aid. Though, it appears that my scholarship is about on par with what you'd expect given the median drops. Also, it has no stips!
Congrats man. So you got the tuition down to in-state rate, and on top of that they give you 14k/year (42k in total)? That is simply magic! basically you are paying 5k for tuition per year which is insane :P

Thanks! To clarify, I didn't get an instate waiver or anything - I just happen to be a FL resident. But yeah, $14K/year which is essentially a 2/3 scholarship. Makes FSU awfully cheap!

Applied only for the merit based scholarship and didn't fill out the box at the bottom personally.

For those of you who are accepted/have your scholarship info, how long did it take you to find out?
I got the call on Thursday and the scholarship email on Friday but still haven't gotten the acceptance packet or heard back as far as $$$ goes.

Well, I got the letter today, so maybe that means I'll hear something soon.

It took 3 days after the phone call for me to receive the scholarship decision. Pretty sure I was told it could take upwards of 2 weeks though.
I'm assuming its taking a little longer for me because my LSAT is closer to their median that the people who heard back the fastest, or something along those lines. I'd love to know though, good grief.

Does anyone know if the admissions office is open this week (Thanksgiving week)?

I talked to them today and they are closed Thursday and Friday.

Oddly enough, I talked to them because they called me to see if I had received my scholarship e-mail that they apparently sent a week or so ago, but that I never received. They said they would resend it, so keep your fingers crossed that I get it tomorrow! If not I'll have to wait forever to find out.

I got 20k no stips, but divided between all three years. Not exactly the best offer I've gotten yet, especially since I'll be paying out of state tuition for at least one year...

Hi there,

I was admitted a few weeks ago and received a small scholarship offer. Has anyone tried negotiating a better offer? I tried (while FSU was my only admit) and was told it was not possible now but may be later in the cycle and they would contact me.

I now have a $45,000 scholarship offer from a peer school out of state so I am wondering if I should try again using that scholarship as leverage. I'd really like to go to FSU but am very averse to taking on any more debt.

Any thoughts?

Think about this from the standpoint of the school. They don't have an unlimited amount of scholarship money. It's their most valuable asset in terms of attracting strong candidates. They will get tons of applications throughout the month and into 2014. They won't negotiate scholarships at this point because they need to make sure they'll have enough later on in the cycle.

With that said, once people start deciding on their schools, there's a possibility a candidate who was offered money doesn't go to FSU. They withdraw their application and that money goes back into the pool. That's when you get to negotiate for a better offer. Or FSU ends up not giving out as much money initially, and they have money left over.

Just wait till later in the cycle and send a convincing letter that you are very much interested in FSU. Also, yes, you can mention your other scholarship and use it as leverage, but be careful not to sound like you're taking FSU as hostage.

FSU was a "safe" school for me, but I've been warming up to them since having been admitted.
