I'm not gunna lie, that seems kind of low. Your numbers absolutely destroy their medians, and 39k is not even full tuition I think. UF being my alma mater and all, I have some friends applying there this year. If this offer is non-negotiable then idk if I can recommend UF to them over higher ranked options. Or even over FSU, considering I know a girl who got 48k there with lower numbers than yours.Keicar wrote:No it was a separate mailing. I was accepted 11/19. 3.98/165.AT9 wrote:Congrats! Did that come with the acceptance packet? If not, when were you accepted and what are your stats?Keicar wrote:Just got my scholarship offer in the mail - $39,000 ($13,000/year)! I'm in-state.
Hello to the rest of the TLS Gator bros though. UF is awesome, I miss Gainesville

^I was thinking the same thing. My numbers are above both 75ths at UF/FSU, but not as stellar as that poster. Perhaps they're low-balling because they think s/he is unlikely to enroll given better options elsewhere? I mean those are probably lower T14 numbers in this market. Same type of thing happened with SMU - gave me like $15K more than they did to another applicant with better numbers and SOFTS just a good. My only thought was that they do this to allocate more money to the people who are most likely to enroll. I would think UF will almost half to match FSU offers in order to not get passed up.

Decision was in the mail on 12/13, was sent 12/9 (I'm in-state).
Now the eternal question... UF or FSU?

They are close enough in the rankings to make a purely personal decision. I'd go wherever you liked most when you visited. If you want a government job, then I'd definitely say FSU.PalmBay wrote:Decision was in the mail on 12/13, was sent 12/9 (I'm in-state).

I'm hearing UF is stingy when it comes to scholarship money, it'll most likely come down to how generous they are with that.nebula666 wrote:They are close enough in the rankings to make a purely personal decision. Got my letter in the mail today... Gonna go up in January to see the campus and secure lease for the continuum (anyone have any experience with this place), then I'll be there for April Admitted Students Day.

I guess they are considered stingy but their tuition is already really low. FSU gives slightly more money though.PalmBay wrote:I'm hearing UF is stingy when it comes to scholarship money, it'll most likely come down to how generous they are with that.nebula666 wrote:They are close enough in the rankings to make a purely personal decision. Got my scholarship info in the mail yesterday! I was accepted exactly a month ago, so if most cases are like mine, scholly info will show up about a month after admission.

I'm in the same boat, but someone told me, "No news is good news."redbull12 wrote:i have a bad feeling about being in comparative review this long..
Going off of that I believe if they truly want to reject you then they'll do it and not keep your application in comparative review for so long. I guess we'll see- it's been 6 weeks since I've sent mine in and I get more irritated everyday!

1L checking in - let me know if you have any questions. PM or Reply!
As for the process - UF took forever with the status changes and everything but from what I know all of the decision reached: notice issued was acceptance all last year. Acceptances and WL were both snail mail and rejection was e-mail. The time it takes for status changes wasn't really indicative of any problems with anything - just how they operate.
Hope that helps!

How hard is it to find housing near the law school in the Summer? Would you recommend the Continuum for a 1L?

I'm a 1L so obviously I haven't been here for the summer yet, but once we get closer to summer time I'm sure stuff will open up. Once people figure out what they are doing/where they are going for the summer people will be putting their rooms up for the summer. As far the Continuum, the location is great but I haven't heard good things about the leasing office at all. It's pretty expensive relative to some other places you could live too.foundingfather wrote:Thanks for taking the time to answer questions!aklam19 wrote:1L checking in - let me know if you have any questions. The continuum is the ONLY place in Gainesville you should not live. Can't even begin to describe all of the horror stories that my friends have been through. Most law students live in one of the apartment complexes on 34th and 2nd (hawaiian village, camelot, village 34, point west) and then other ones further down 34th (the estates, picadilly, museum walk). You can also live in one of the houses right next to the law school or look at apartments that are further away.foundingfather wrote:Thanks for taking the time to answer questions!aklam19 wrote:1L checking in - let me know if you have any questions. Oh Comparative Review... how you torture me so. I've already been admitted at numerous other schools including schools higher ranked than UF. Why must UF do this to us?
