Re: Wake Forest c/o 2017 (2013-2014)
46% of grads from UNC work in NC, same with Wake. As far as being better for a particular state you may need to dig a little more. According to LST employment for UNC is 66.8% while Wake is 66.7%. Wake does much better on the NC bar, also the highest in NC. Although UNC has more graduates that doesn't mean it's better for getting a job, as Wake is the more respected academic institution (top 25 undergrad, and various other grad programs).
I wouldn't live in Chapel Hill but that's just me. If that's not a problem go wherever is cheaper/like more.

For 2013 37% of Wake grads worked in NC...... I think. Not that it makes much of a difference anyway.shaynislegend wrote:46% of grads from UNC work in NC, same with Wake. Where are most of you who are attending hoping to find jobs afterwards? Are any of you concerned about being at a disadvantage for job consideration in areas outside of NC, such as NYC, Boston and DC?

Since I'm attending a regional school, I've accepted that I will probably be working in the state following graduation. But the location I target depends on how I do in the class.Dori3 wrote:Where are most of you who are attending hoping to find jobs afterwards? Top 20ish %, I'll be shooting for:
1. DC/NYC
2. Charlotte/Atlanta
3. Winston/Greensboro/Raleigh/Columbia
More realistically, if I'm around median, I'll probably be shooting for:
1. Charlotte
2. Winston/Greensboro/Raleigh/Durham
3. Smaller cities in the region (Ashville would be cool...)

I like the Triad, but probably either closer to the coast like Wilmington area or Charlotte.AT9 wrote:Since I'm attending a regional school, I've accepted that I will probably be working in the state following graduation. Guys and gals did you take a look at this: http://studentlife.law.wfu.edu/files/20 ... 0.2011.pdf
The grading system for Wake is kinda weird, no? It seems to be on a scale of 59 to 100. I've never seen that before. I guess they have that instead of the standard 4.0 GPA scale.

Yes this was brought up at ASD. They also only do class ranks for the top 50%. Not sure if that is as uncommon, but I thought that was a nice tidbit.Yanky91 wrote:Guys and gals did you take a look at this: http://studentlife.law.wfu.edu/files/20 ... 0.2011.pdf

I didn't know that about the top 50%. That's nice. I wish more schools would do that (Vandy only provides rankings for the top 20%).cricketlove00 wrote:Yes this was brought up at ASD. Everyone who put down their first deposit say "I"!
We should all combine our efforts for the first year like power rangers and crush them exams.

Secondly, that is literally what the leasing agent at Crowne told me. She said Boob Hill is gorgeous in the fall.

That's hilarious. What a marketing strategy! "Come rent our apartments.... where you can view Boob Hill in the distance! Or perhaps even go climb it!"cricketlove00 wrote:Firstly, "I".zippernicus wrote:There is a certain resemblance there.cricketlove00 wrote:Is Pilot Mountain the one they call Boob Hill?zippernicus wrote:Saw this today and thought those of you new to W-S might enjoy it...

Re: Wake Forest c/o 2017 (2013-2014)
So the deposit deadlines are creeping up way too fast and I've delayed the decision until last min. Of course.
I love many aspects of Wake and have since applying (and getting rejected) last year. The rent around W-S seems super cheap (compared to my other options), their international law programme is intriguing, and the rankings are up (albeit they obvs aren't everything).
The main thing holding me back is the location. W-S sounds quaint and cute, but small towns aren't my fave. Of course a lack of distractions could be great for studying. More importantly, however, I have no interest in staying in NC after I graduate. Everyone goes in with the mentality they want to be in the top whatever percent and get the best job possible wherever they want, so I'm trying to be realistic. Do you guys think Wake be a total mistake if I'm not interested in NC?

Sent in a seat deposit!
Does anybody know if we get a confirmation email once the deposit is sent (I did it through the online deposit)? I sent in the $200 since I went to the open house, but my status check still read $500!?
Thanks and Go Deacs!

I don't know it would be a TOTAL mistake, but I would be very hesitant if you don't have strong connections in the region in which you want to work. Look at these numbers:Yazzzay wrote:So the deposit deadlines are creeping up way too fast and I've delayed the decision until last min. Of course.

53% of grads in 2012 ended up in NC after graduation. You may do well and have great opportunities wherever you want to work; however, I would at least be ok with working small-law in the immediate region before going to there.
What are your other options and where do you want to work?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
