Can anyone give me an idea of some dog friendly apartments close to the law school? I'm going to be in town until Saturday and would like to get an idea of housing options. Otherwise, I look forward to meeting some of you on Thursday night (I suck at trivia though).

I was also wondering about apartments that allow dogs! I won't be able to make it this weekend but I would love to know what you're able to find out!

I'm searching for housing after ASD and I have a dog as well. I'll let you all know if I find anything. COL is so low, renting a house might not even be a bad option either from what I saw online. I have an Aussie so he needs room to run.

I live at the Aspen condos which is about 10 minute walk from the law school (very close). I would be more than happy to let people come by and see it if you want to. It is pet friendly, around 1200 sq feet 2 bedroom-2 baths and most of the condos are from $700-800. I will be leaving in the Aspen condos through school and know of 3-4 of these rented out by those currently at Wake Law. Just let me know if you want to see it.

I was thinking a house would be a good option. I have a sheltie so he is small enough for an apartment if necessary, but would love to have a house if possible! Thanks for the info!

Do you guys think it would be overkill to ask again for a scholarship reconsideration sometime during the summer? I asked once and they denied it.

The "will get back to you once more funds are available" comment too... Does that mean they will contact me?

Wow, the "Unemployed- Seeking" category for the 2013 data is scary! 28 people 9 months after graduation, looking back at past years it has never been that high. Definitely a little alarming, hopefully not a sign of things to come. :?

Important question is how many failed to pass the Bar Exam? I am not sure what the answer to that is but if say 15 people failed or delayed the Bar then that number isn't as scary.

But that is also not including those employed by the University. If you add that then you're looking at 39 people

I'm definitely a little shocked. I wonder what kind of impact this is going to have on future rankings, I would hate to see a nose dive next year like W&L or American. Ahhhh pretty scary reality check.

I'm less concerned about rankings, more concerned about finding a job when I graduate. Regardless, I'm a little nervous now.

Well, Wake Forest moves around a lot in the rankings. Two years ago it was ranked 44. It jumps, just like UNC. I would not worry about rankings. It always maintains it's rep.

From what I found from http://about.law.wfu.edu/files/2013/02/ ... report.pdf

It looks like at least 16 people failed to pass their bar exam. So I would subtract that number from the amount unemployed, as it seems likely that it would be do to the failure to pass the bar.

I will also say I don't think the name on the diploma is going to keep someone from getting a job. Sure, the T14 heightens your chances largely due to the areas their alumni are concentrated in. I think its more about rank, connections, and the market are aiming to work.

Definitely, but there is no doubt that many firms take those rankings into consideration for hiring, no matter how truly comprehensive/telling they may actually be.

Why are so many students failing the Bar?

Yeah, exactly. I don't know how to put any kind of a positive spin on this data.

It happens everywhere, not sure why after the time you have to study for it but Wake does better than the North Carolina Schools.

According to here: http://news.law.wfu.edu/2012/08/wake-fo ... w-schools/

I don't think a drop of a few points in the ranking will have an affect on employment. It is not like employers are checking the rankings every time they interview someone. Most of the people who get hired from Wake are hired by people who are familiar with the school and it's reputation. Bottom line is, if you do well at Wake you will have the same chance at the same employment whether they are ranked 38 or 31.

True. I just checked UNC. Wake is around the same if not a bit better.

Well either way the number of unemployed students went up a lot which is hard to ignore. I really hope career services sends us some kind of email addressing this.

If you go on lawschooltransparency.com you will find a ton of data on employment statistics. The main thing to understand is that the legal field is not "booming" like it was. It is not just Wake or North Carolina schools. It is everywhere, there are T14 schools hovering around 70% meaningful employment. That is why its important to minimize debt and know what you are getting yourself into.

FWIW I think Wake is better than most of the schools near its ranking and price range. Outside of schools in the top20 you won't see much difference in their Bar passage and employment stats.
