That's real screwed up. I guess i shouldn't be complaining... :|

Eh, I'm not too offended. Chicago is a bit of a reach for me, and even if I got in it wouldn't be with $$$, so I'm largely ambivalent about the situation. OTOH, I'm also still not complete at Cornell, which I find endlessly aggravating.

The email invite indicated that the earliest day to schedule an interview was for today,1/14. I logged on right away, however, and the earliest available slot was on 1/21.

Good luck to all those interviewing...everyone one else, hang in there!

They will likely admit the next wave by end of next week. With MLK Day on Monday perhaps being the target. Last year I think they admitted people around January 20th-22nd.

Same... Cornell is slower than molasses.

I'm with you, buddy, though I guess technically still UR1 and no change since mid-December.

I'm just wondering if they have already made a decision on me one way or the other, and thought an interview wouldn't change their minds?

When I logged in, I saw slots for 1/14. I think they just went fast. (I didn't take one, so I'm not certain they were actually working, but it was an option.)

For people getting the "staff not available message:" try selecting the same time again. Unless I misclicked, I got that message but then was able to schedule the same time on the second try.

Haha me too, I just feel like if they did make a decision on me, it is probably in the negative direction considering my GPA and all.

Is that your last UR ls22?

I'm glad that we are in the same UR boat (though I had an interview). Who knows, maybe you are one of the lucky few who gets in sans-interview.

I think that I'm a decent candidate if only because I'm already a graduate student at U of C, I have excellent U of C grades (even in undergraduate courses here), and I'm a URM (though I'm not actually sure if schools are placing me in the URM category because of my mixed-race status).

I'm honored to be in your pile...

My last UR was 12/30 which was UR2. No interview invite at this point. I went complete late October/early November. UR1 was 11/26.

Like I said, I would be surprised to get in without an interview, just because of my GPA, which is <25th. My LSAT is >75th though, and I do have some good softs going for me, but I am not disillusioned enough to think I'm the special snowflake that got in w/o an interview and sub-25th GPA lol.

Does that basically make me disillusioned for thinking I could be the special snowflake that gets in without an interview and below median GPA (>75th LSAT)? <sigh>

Haha I didn't mean it that way. But I'd feel better with a 25-50 GPA than a sub-25 GPA any day.

I don't understand those of you who are considering not doing the interview, do you really interview that poorly? The threshold for success is surely not very high, law students are weird and admissions knows that.

I feel like I've been reading this thread very carefully since interview invites came out and I haven't seen a single person suggest that they were considering not doing the interview, except maybe one person, who mentioned that it was an option.

Has anyone created a thread about the interview? (what kind of questions are asked, etc) ...I'm sure there is one somewhere but I can't find it!

I had no change since early December (and it was UR1) and got my interview request last night.

I'm not seriously considering skipping the interview, but I am a little confused about it's optional nature. The e-mail certainly sounds like if you don't interview they will jsut read your application without the interview. That sounds a little weird to me. Anyone know what that's about? I mean, Harvard interviews everyone but presumably Chicago interviews you because you're somewhat borderline, right? (People do get into UChicago without interviews, yes?) So what's the deal?

Complete since 12/20, still not "UR." Is the long wait for UR something to be concerned about?

My understanding is that last year people only got in without interviews towards the end of the cycle, and it seemed like they just ran out of time to do interviews. I may be wrong, though.

They will just interview your file as is. Unless there was a legitimate reason you couldn't schedule an interview (I've heard serving in the military overseas being an example), I'd imagine your file would be viewed more negatively than it was before. If they asked for an interview and you were borderline, that would seem to make up their minds not to accept you. If you had great numbers, that might indicate a lack of interest and it would make sense to YP you.

This is all just speculation, but I think they include that option so people that genuinely can't schedule an interview for some reason do not freak out.

I think that choosing not to interview is a death sentence. They have a thousand other qualified candidates who they can call upon and simply avoid your non-committal shenanigans.

Chicago is not like Georgetown. They interview every qualified candidate they can get their hands on. I remember very very few people who were admitted last year without an interview (less than 10).

Seriously just interview. It's a T6 and the interview will take one hour of prep time, 15 minutes of getting ready and looking nice, and 20 minutes. If a chance at getting in is not worth 90 minutes of your time, I legitimately don't see why you woulda spent at least 25 bucks and applied here.

Also, even if Chicago isn't a school you don't want to go to, at the very least the chance at a scholarship that can be negotiated with every school other than HYS makes it worth it.
