Dumb question: For the Skype interview, they "call" you, right?

Okay, so here is my theory for Chicago:
On Monday, Dec. 2 the first round of interview invitations went out. The email stated:
As I said, just a theory.

So, as of the morning of Dec. 17 all of the first rounders will have interviewed, scheduled their interviews or declined the interview invitation and be returned to "under review" (with the exception of those who have interviews scheduled for later). So, with a solid batch of interviews done, they will take that week to review the interviewed or declined applicants and release the first round of decisions on Friday the 20th (or maybe if they are a little slow, Monday the 23rd).If you are interested in interviewing with a member of our Admissions Committee, you must schedule your interview within the next two weeks by following the instructions below. If you have not scheduled your interview by Monday, December 16 at 5 p.m., your application will be returned to review and will be evaluated without an interview.

So wait do all prospective admits get interviewed? Is it possible to get in without an interview?

So for someone who was not in the first round of interviews, when do you think the next round of interviews will be?

you have to schedule it within two weeks, it does not have to be schedule for a date within two weeks' time.The-Specs wrote:Okay, so here is my theory for Chicago:

I know, I included that in the theory as you can see in the bolded. I believe those people may have self-selected themselves out of the first round.1948 wrote:you have to schedule it within two weeks, it does not have to be schedule for a date within two weeks' time.The-Specs wrote:

I've been combing through last year's cycle and I just can't be optimistic about RD decisions going out anytime before mid-January. ED, however, should know next week! So good luck to you guys.The-Specs wrote:Okay, so here is my theory for Chicago:

UChicago seriously lagged last year in the admissions process but even during the year before that I think RD decisions didn't come out until Jan 13, 2012.
Also- there was a mass status change last year on 12/17 and 12/18 that basically revealed nothing about who was admitted/wl'd/dinged. It was just a big 'ol status change. So if I see that happen this year, I'm going to try to control myself...

Not everyone gets interviewed. Last year some people were admitted without interviews, but I think they were all towards the end of the cycle when Chicago felt like it was running out of them. They're more ahead of the ball this time.nedstarksbastard wrote:So wait do all prospective admits get interviewed? Is it possible to get in without an interview?
Basically, it sounds like Chicago is trying to create an interview system that works the same way as Harvard's.

Though, from my experience, I would have to say that they have a long way to accomplish the bolded.midwest17 wrote:Not everyone gets interviewed. I should probably stop doing whatever digital-archaeology TLS affords. I thought it might be relaxing between finals to unravel the UChicago admissions' mystery. Unfortunately, I only discovered that we all have to be okay with U of C being one of the slowest T14s to respond.
According to last year's spreadsheet, interviews for end of October and November submitters didn't even come until January!

Why do you think EDers will hear back next week? Is that when folks heard back last cycle?fivestarfolds wrote:I've been combing through last year's cycle and I just can't be optimistic about RD decisions going out anytime before mid-January. ED I believe last year heard back December 20th and then January 2nd. Something like that.hernanmi wrote:Why do you think EDers will hear back next week? I thought the Ruby ended with the class of 2016. Maybe I am completely out of the loop and everybody else already knows this, but Mr. Rubenstein just donated another $10 million to keep the scholarship program going.

Oh yeah that is really old. I bet he will keep doing it again 3 years from now. Hell the guy has enough money to do it 260 more times.
