But they can send info from home lol
I'd be surprised if they sent out decisions from home. But someone correct me if they know otherwise.
University (and law school) closed Monday. Hope for Tuesday, folks
Am I actually the only one in the whole country who doesn't have Monday off? Step it up, Chicago, you're killin me.

I've come to hate weekends (especially long weekends) because when I check my e-mail (out of habit now) looking for law school movement, I am always disappointed.

I think that status-checking is a horrible addiction. I'm thankful to spend the weekend weaning myself off of my F5 key.

Yep. Go out and have fun folks. Spend time with friends and family. Enjoy the days free from stressful status checking and speculation :)

Will some people be accepted without ever being invited for an interview?

According to their site and phone convos I've had with admission, yes.

Weekends were a terrible, terrible idea; who came up with that anyway?

I vaguely remember a time when I spent all week dreaming about Friday arriving; now I spend all weekend dreaming about Monday.

But in the most pragmatic of terms, not really. Like we've pointed out, there is evidence that three things are happening:
1) UChicago is moving faster and likely interviewing more people this year
2) There were reports that last year's yield was fairly high (from the c/o 2013 thread). Looking at the myLSN data from last year, it seems that only a few people moved from the waitlist and that would confirm the yield rate question. There just wasn't a lot of movement.
3) They will likely release decisions on the same (or nearly the same) day that decisions came out last year. IF they have a lot more interviews completed, then they have more people to choose from and it's far less likely that you'd go straight from no interview to admit

All of this tells me that U of C is able to be very selective and has had a good chance to talk to many qualified candidates. I rode the waitlist all the way until October 2 of this year - I never received an interview. I'm just trying to brace for a very competitive selection of admits and a lot of WL's/dings again this year.

Btw, most decisions last year came via email. Like I said earlier, a few people got phone calls and it was usually much later in the cycle.

The first day of decisions was ALL email.

I kind of feel like this is like me saying, "great! A three-day weekend will be PERFECT for data collecting!"

the odds that I actually data-collect are slim-to-none but the odds that I paint my nails five times and finish off the jar of nutella are better than my Cooley odds

Does anyone know who the interviewers are for Chicago? Is there a page with short bios for your possible interviewers like that Harvard blog page?

Srry if this has already been mentioned earlier.

I'm on mobile at the moment and can't find a suitable link, but I interviewed with Eric Chisholm. He's the assistant dean of admissions. I assumed the interviewers were all admissions department staff.

I'll google him. Even thought there are other possible interviewers it just calms my nerves to do as much hw as I can, so thanks!

In 2012 (2 years ago) they let out a little teaser that hinted decisions would be going out soon. I think we got the equivalent of that little teaser on Friday. Tuesday it is!

Good, at least I don't have to wait much longer to find out about my WL/ding :).

On another note, is everyone who is interviewed accepted? I've read through the thread but there doesn't seem to be any common wisdom as of yet considering the program is in its infancy.

I'm getting worried cause I'm stuck at an early December update with no movement since

They keep you on the waitlist until they know that every student who made a deposit has come for the first week of classes. I think most schools do this but most schools don't begin classes as late as the last week of September. So I was wait listed last year beginning in January by northwestern, and having only applied to NU and U of C, I sat on both until the last possible day to no avail. It was a horrible year and I can't imagine doing it again.
Man, that's rough. I did wait-lists last year as well, but it was nothing quite like that.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
