Depends on what you want to do IMO. If you want to corporate law, you better be wearing a formal suit with a tie. Public interest people can be a little bit more business casual and etc.c0llegeStUd3nt wrote:Weird question. I have my interview coming up next week. What would you all recommend attire-wise? I predict another round of interview invites next week, and decisions the week after. Weren't the last round of interview invites a week before the first round of decisions? And Rubies came out 2 weeks after decisions; I wouldn't be surprised if they were alternating on Rubies/decisions on a two-week cycle.

FWIW, last year there was a wave of decisions on 1/23 and then another on 2/15.midwest17 wrote:I predict another round of interview invites next week, and decisions the week after. I'm hoping for decisions this Tuesday. In my interview, I was told that they didn't have a timetable for the next round of decisions (no I didn't ask).
Does anyone know if Ruby handouts are always 2 weeks after the acceptances or if that's only for the first round?

I went complete yesterday after having sent in the app 3 weeks ago. The what to expect when expecting thread says that it takes roughly six weeks to go under review. Is that six weeks from the day you go complete or roughly from when you sent your app?

This is stupid advice and a meaningless distinction when you're a 0L. Just dress like an grown up who wants to get an admission offerjingosaur wrote:Depends on what you want to do IMO. What's the word on the nature of these Chicago interviews? Can't imagine they're as laid back as the JS1..
Any particular questions I should expect?

Mine was very laid back.

Re: Chicago c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
I had mine this morning. It was not nearly as laid back as UVA. But then again it seemed like UVA was going to let me in unless I had the social skills of a mentally challenged orangutan. This morning was still not as formal as NU, but felt formal, perhaps t because I'm more of a borderline candidate. I think it felt more formal for me since I was pretty nervous, as UChi is my first choice. Also, the interviewer (Eric Chisholm) spent most of the time looking down at his notes, so it was hard to gauge his reactions. I feel like I messed up, but hopefully I got through the idea that Chicago is my first choice and I would attend if accepted. But who knows what he thought.
What messed me up was that they asked 3 questions where my answers overlapped a bit:
1) Why Law? 2) What are you looking for in a law school? Why UChicago law school?
Take-aways: make sure you have the material down pat for those 3 questions, and try and be more relaxed than I was.
Good luck to everyone on their interviews/acceptances!

Do chicago admit people without interviews or are the interviews a necessary component of admission?

Last year they were all but necessary, but a few got in without. Who knows about this year, but it's likely that it's similar.

Question for the group - what should I be thinking at this point? Had my interview on 1/17, went UR3 on 1/24, and haven't heard a word since...should I be waiting for a WL/ding, or is there still a glimmer of hope?

You probably just interviewed too late for the last round of admissions. I wouldn't worry unless the next wave comes and you still haven't heard anything.brich256 wrote:Question for the group - what should I be thinking at this point? Re: Chicago c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
I had heard ahead of time that they asked questions like "what's your biggest regret" and "what is your greatest accomplishment," so I was prepared with somewhat articulate answers for those (even though I think the regret question is a bit deep for a law school interiew....wish I could have said #NoRegrets)yadiermolina wrote:I had mine this morning. EC was my interviewer as well. Very nice, but maintained a poker face for most of the time. Good luck!

+1. I have the exact same dates as you. Dean Perry said in the interview that they only looked at my resume before the interview and they review everything else afterwards. There just haven't been any decisions since we interviewed. Hopefully, we'll both be in the next wave, which I estimate to be on Tuesday.AFP wrote:You probably just interviewed too late for the last round of admissions. Awesome. I was wondering, because it felt like I had a very...interesting...interview, and thought I might have shot myself in the foot.jingosaur wrote:+1. I have the exact same dates as you. Does anyone know if you can send them an updated resume after you've gone under review? Has anyone done it? I was turned down the first time I tried...
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
