No, I don't regret it, but 'Dozo also places well in the particular offices I'm interested in working at.

I turned down a number of higher ranked schools precisely for the $$$$. For similarly ranked schools who also offered me the $$$$, I went with: a) job placement in the area I wanted to work, b) clinical/externship opportunities (as another 2L at Cardozo above mentioned...we do have a LOT of those), c) the breadth of the curriculum in the particular area I intend to pursue, and finally d) my overall impression of the student body and professors when I visited.

Had all things been equal with regard to money at the higher ranked schools, I would've focused more on the schools' placement in the specific market/sector I intended to work in. This is really something I can't stress enough about choosing a law school. I'm not BigLaw bound, so the selection criteria was different for me, but with a huge emphasis on money.

ETA: gripes with the school? Sure. Our OCS is terrible, but that doesn't seem to be unique to us. Some people seem pissed that the school closes early on Friday for Shabbat and is closed Saturday, but to me it's been NBD.

How bad is it if I don't go to ASD? I already booked my flight to go to Wake Forest and I just can't make it work...

ASD doesn't really matter. They're not going to rescind your acceptance if you don't go.

I didn't mean it like that. Can I get a clear idea of Cardozo without going and just going on a regular day?

So it seems that there's a few people going to ASD on the 20th. Any of you lovely people want to meet up before the potentially awkward luncheon? :)

Has anyone who was accepted to May start began looking for housing yet? I've been in the city a bunch lately looking for apartments in the area and am looking for a roommate if anyone is interested. PM me!

I will be attending but I think the morning program will probably run right into the luncheon.

I'll be there. I want to take the 11am tour of the school and residence hall.

If I was asked to do a phone interview is there any chance that I could be in the running for some scholarship money?

Still can't decide if I will be attending or not. Seat deposit is due April 11th. Is everyone else's not the same?

I got a full scholarship, but hearing all these people saying not to come if you're not interested in PI or IP (which I'm not) is not helping.

If I don't attend here, I won't be attending anywhere this cycle.

As of yesterday, my status on the app status checker said that decision was reached but i have not received anything. Bad sign? or good sign?

Hi everyone,

Long time reader, first time poster. I was accepted to Cardozo a few weeks ago with a $15k scholarship. I'd like to try to negotiate it up a bit. I'm sure this has been already posted somewhere in the thread, but are there any sample emails for how to best go about doing this?

Thanks in advance!

Probably a good sign. IIRC they snail mail acceptances and email WLs and rejections. If you'd been WL/rejected, you'd probably have heard already.

They called to tell me I was accepted and then my status checker was updated to what yours says. Hoping it's good news for you!

How much is the April 11th deposit. I have a scholarship from Cardozo and they will not extend the deadline, but I am still unsure of which school I want to attend.

I believe it's $400.

They won't extend the deadline at all? That's pretty disappointing. I was leaning toward Cardozo after receiving an increase in my scholarship today but am still waiting to hear back from other schools before I do so. I am very much on the fence, but am going to attempt to negotiate for even more money. As it sits now, I'm not sure I can justify taking out loans to cover the rest of the tuition and cost of living (scholarship is $25K/yr, so approx 165K remaining), so unless I receive a better scholarship, I'll have to sit this one out.

Anyone else in a similar boat?

Would it be ok to call and ask why I have that on my status and why I have not received anything yet? It's been two days but I'm getting anxious. Would that reflect poorly on me if I call the admissions office about this or do they not care?

Hey guys! So, I recently got my scholarship raised to $30,000. ATM Cardozo is one of my top choices. I just wanted to ask if anyone had much to say on how much Cardozo is looked down upon in this forum. Almost any thread I read, people recommend retake and reapplying for better schools. Currently, I do have an other option with GW. However, GW hasn't offered me any money whatsoever. I am still going to be attending GW's ASW this weekend since they said they will get back to me by April 10th if they decide to offer me any money. Personally, I've been in NYC all my life and I don't plan on working elsewhere. Going to Cardozo would mean being able to live with my parents in NYC and saving a shitload on COL expenses. So, Cardozo does seem to be my best choice but all the thrashing it gets here on TLS scares me quite a bit.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, I'm in for the May start program. Do you guys know any info. regarding May start and if employers look down upon it since it technically is a "part-time" program.

Pretty much every regional school (which is what Cardozo is) gets thrashed on this forum. The NYC area regional schools receive even more of a thrashing because of ridiculously high tuition and COL expenses.

Cardozo was, and still is, the "best choice" for me, but that was after considering a host of factors that I was concerned with: fully scholly, mitigated COL, very good placement in the PI/Gov't sector that I want to go into, good curriculum/clinic choices to further that career goal, etc etc. For some (namely those who aren't Biglaw or bust), the "best choice" school may not be the highest ranked school they got into. You have to figure out what's important to you and whether the schools you're considering meet those expectations or not.

Also, re. seat deposit: they won't budge on it, and my experience was that none of the schools I was actively considering at this point would budge on their deadlines. Be prepared to lose some $$$ in this point in the cycle.
