Personally, I think reading anything ITT in a Liam Niesen voice is appropriate given the gravity of the situation. I feel like this was pretty much what happened with me:
"Okay, next waitlist: Theopliske8711. Okay, let's start."
"Hey it's 5PM, lets go, drinks on me!"
"Awesome! Fuck it, I'll waitlist him Monday!"

If I'm only UR1 1/17, it's safe to assume I'm way behind the current group of UR2 1/24 waiters, correct? Submitted early Dec., but just realized I'm UR1, not UR2.

"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for a really high LSAT, I can tell you that I do not have a 180. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills: skills that I have acquired over a successful undergraduate career, through numerous internships, and by way of professional experience. Skills that make me the ideal candidate for schools like yours. If you accept me now, that will be the end of it. I will not seek out other schools; I will accept your offer."

Here's a template for all the wait lists (of which I expect to join soon)
"I know a [man/woman] who is firm -- [she's/he's] firm in [his/her] pants, [he's/she's] firm in [her/his] shirt, [her/his] character is firm -- but most . . . of all, [her/his] belief in you, the University of Penn School of Law is firm.
[YOUR NAME HERE] is a [woman/man] who takes [his/her] point and pounds it in. If necessary, [she'll/he'll] take an issue and nail it to the wall. [she/He] doesn't attack things in spurts -- [she/he] drives hard, pushing and pushing until finally -- [she/he] succeeds.
[YOUR NAME HERE] is a [man/woman] who will go to the very end -- even the climax, for each and every one of you.
So let [YOUR NAME IN] to Penn Law--[he'll/she'll] he'll never come between you and the best ourhigh school law school can be."
i never realized how many pronouns were in that thing

Re: Penn c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
If LSAT is the best predictor of law school performance, how come so many people with 175+ and solid GPAs are being waitlisted? Is there any explanation other than YP? It doesn't seem to me that a 3.87/170 is really a better candidate to succeed than a 3.77/177, especially as a tenth of a point in GPA can easily be nothing more than a function of different schools/majors/professors.

Yes: it's a numbers game, and these schools need to maintain certain averages and numbers for US News.kartelite wrote:Is there any explanation other than YP? Re: Penn c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Yeah, I guess YP and "numbers" I meant to kind of lump together. The 3.87/170 applicant could support both the median GPA and the 75th LSAT, whereas the second candidate would only do the latter. And the second candidate would also be closer to a lock at Columbia, so less likely to attend anyway if accepted? But Columbia has a way lower GPA than other T10 schools that it beats in the rankings; same with Stanford and LSAT.Theopliske8711 wrote:Yes: it's a numbers game, and these schools need to maintain certain averages and numbers for US News.kartelite wrote:Is there any explanation other than YP?
