Got the packet (which is extremely nice) but no mention of scholarship.. Do you guys think this means I won't be receiving one?

Did you re-read the acceptance letter in the front? I have #'s below yours and I received a scholarship, so I think you should be getting something ?

Yeah it just says somewhere in it that I will receive a scholarship to be determined at a later date.

Ughhh... It is certainly a top choice but I can't go without money. Should I email and ask or just wait until scholarships are released and see if I get one?

I'd wait until everyone else knows what they're getting, see if you get offers from other schools too and then you can show them to ND as leverage!

I also had a mention of scholarship in my physical acceptance letter. It said that they need more time to deliberate on schollys and they'll let us know early 2014. I would wait until they are released and then see if you get one. If you don't then, I would send a nice email asking about it!

Hey Notre Dame,

Thanks for the really official looking letter you sent, a month after I went complete.

It was nice to hear that you'd like for me to apply to your school.

Sincerely,
AHHHH

I might have to do this as well. Just got my official letter with no mention of scholarship. I'd absolutely love to go to ND as it's currently my top choice, but it would be tough to swallow a full price tag...

I also didn't have any mention of a scholarship. I find it strange because they accepted me almost right away. I waited about 3 weeks. And my acceptance letter had a small handwritten note from the Assistant Dean. It is also currently my top choice, but I am not sure about paying full price. How does everyone else feel about that?

Edit: That being said, I did feel like ND was a reach for me, but I also thought WM was too and they offered me a pretty nice scholarship. UMN offered me an even better scholarship. Maybe I can use that as a bargaining chip since its slightly higher ranked but in a similar region (midwest)

I would say that almost all of TLS would say it is a bad idea to pay sticker price to any school outside the T-14 (with many others saying they wouldn't even pay sticker at most of the T-14). I wouldn't pay sticker to attend any school personally (maybe with the exception of Yale) because the debt load is just so astronomical it's scary to look at. ND is a fantastic school, definitely one of the best outside the T-14, but not worth sticker. I also saw on their website that they refuse to negotiate scholarships. How are you guys going to approach them since they clearly state they don't negotiate?

+1. Any current students have any experience with this during their cycles?

Packet said I would be receiving a scholarship and had a nice handwritten note. Looking forward to ND's offer.

I am thinking about sending them an email today saying that my letter did not mention a scholarship and whether or not I should anticipate receiving one. I will probably subtly mention how without one, I won't be able to attend.

Part of me just feels I should sit this cycle out and retake, but I really do not want to put off law school for another year and would genuinely be happy to attend Notre Dame (with some sort of scholarship, of course).

I think the law school is closed until Jan 2nd. So enjoy the holiday for now.

Kyle, did anyone from your class bump their schollys at all? Also, does ND give full-rides?

I don't know much about scholarship negotiation, but it can never hurt to try, the worst they can say is no. I am sure a few have full-rides, but ND is generally more conservative on scholarships than other similarly-ranked schools. I don't think it would be realistic to expect ND to start ditching out money like WUSTL or UMN.

I definitely agree with the above, I'm not a ND student but I applied and was excepted with a scholarship last cycle. It was definitely more conservative than peer schools, and historical offerings definitely suggest they will likely keep with this trend.

did the packets go to your permanent or current addresses? I am away from school for the holiday break so all my mail at my current address cannot be picked up.

Also, did people getting scholarships fill out the socioeconomic portion of the app on financial need? I did not because they made it seem like they wanted a specific person to fill that portion out. That may cause some lag?

I think it depends on what address placed on your LSAC account. I filled it out but I think these are merit scholarships.

Hi everyone,

I received my decision in the mail and I have been waitlisted. ND was a big reach and I am actually very happy with this result. I don't think I will ride the waitlist as I have been accepted at other schools in state (affordable) with deadlines before waitlist decisions will go out.

At least by sharing on this board I can confirm that if you are accepted your seat deposit numbers will show up in the status check and if you are waitlisted or rejected they will not.

Best of luck to everyone throughout this cycle!

I applied via fast track on on 1/03 after receiving my December score. They emailed me back very quickly outlining the next steps for the fast track app. I submitted my resume, personal statement, and why ND essays yesterday.

My questions for you all: do fast track applicants receive a status checker? About how long did it take for any of you fellow fast trackers to receive a decision?

Fast track, from my communication with the office, unfortunately just means a faster application process for you not a faster decision-making process. You will receive a checker, it took me about 2 weeks to get mine but I know they received a lot during that time period. In regards to decisions, things seem to move fast.

I didn't apply via fast-track, but it was about 5 weeks after I submitted my application when I received my decision. They seem to have a pretty quick turnaround time compared to most other schools that receive 2000+ applications.
