Just the form. They will then email you and set up a phone call
Thanks. It is just weird because ND offered me 20 a year but I have a 21 a year from WM for instance. Only 1k more, but it cuts actual tuition in cost in half of what it would at ND. But sweet thanks.

Also, how was the phone call? I have other offers I submitted that include a paid research chair in my name and stuff etc. Like will be there an opportunity to explain stuff like this?
Absolutely. Essentially you get to walk them through what the difference in COA would be based on other offers you have. They take into account that they might be more expensive to attend, so even a smaller offer elsewhere might result in a lower COA. Just calculate the difference in COA between the schools you submitted and ND, and be ready to discuss this.

The phone call is very conversational, but also be ready to talk about why you want to go to ND. PM me if you have any other questions or for my results. Good luck!

How long did it take everyone from the submission of the appeal form till you got an email to schedule a time? I submitted the form early Friday and have yet to hear back. Some deposits are due tomorrow..

I submitted on a Friday and heard back the following Monday. If you have decisions due tomorrow I would contact them today and let them know your situation. They've seemed very reasonable and willing to work with me this cycle so I see no reason why they wouldn't be able to give you a decision post haste.

Just called and this is for everyone who hasn't heard yet about a call. Apparently because of the deposit deadlines they aren't calling anymore, they are just making decisions and emailing them out now as far as increases.

I have $38k a year at WUSTL, originally $25k at ND. They only upped the offer to $27k. I recently was offered full tuition at UIUC. Should I call them and tell them the situation? They don't know about the full ride to Illinois. If I don't get anymore I am probably going to withdraw. I think it's pretty much BS that they only upped it $2k when I am getting so much more from WUSTL...

What numbers matter most to you in your decision?

Debt is one of the biggest factors that matters to me. Looking at those numbers in terms of employment, they all look pretty similar. I am trying to working in Chicago but still want flexibility to move. I liked ND because it has such a reputation and is close to Chicago where my gf lives. COA WUSTL would be significantly lower and UIUC even still. Do you think the advantages of ND are worth the difference from WUSTL? Is UIUC the best option? Thanks for your reply,

WUSTL is known to throw lots and lots of money at candidates, so it is unlikely that ND will match WUSTL's offer. A big difference between the two school is mentality, ND wants students that want to be here at ND, which is why they used to cap scholarship offers instead of participating in the scholarship arms race. I think the best way to negotiate scholarship would be to show strong interest in ND, and show that but for the price, you would be attending.

Only received a 2k increase. Actually felt like I received an email from BC. I sent an email asking to set up a phone call with the Dean and have yet to hear back 6+ hours later.

Since this seems to be the topic of the moment:

I submitted the appeal and within a week got a 12k increase.

That really sealed the deal for me, so I'll be attending ND in the fall! (:

I might have missed this discussion already, but has anyone returned the Financial Assistance Letter yet? I'm a little thrown off by some of it. My total award between Scholarship and Federal Direct Unsub Loan is $60,500 but thats about $12,000 less than the listed total cost of attendance on the website. I'm guessing that I have to do something separately to get that $12,000 in Grad PLUS Loans?

My understanding was that Direct and Grad PLUS were two separate processes because they're two separate loans. If you need more from Grad PLUS, then I think you do need to do something separately (but unfortunately I don't know what, exactly... email financial aid?). That said, you might want to do your own budget and make sure your personal COA is the same as the one listed on the site. You don't want to take out more debt than is necessary because you went with their conservative numbers.

I'm also still waiting, but I applied mid-Feb (2/17). Most likely will not attend, but still want to hear what's in it for me.
